We are a small 4 man team who have been building a bug database for DBpro since before its release. Seeing a need during the beta when DBpro was shakier than an alcoholic without a drink, we established our Bug database program. With 4 different setups and 4 different graphics cards, and using Software written by us, we have uncovered over 500 DBpro Bugs which we can confirm and reproduce in patch 5. We browse all dBpro releated sites (including DBDN) picking up and testing bugs wherever they are reported too. With every new patch, our software runs through all previous bugs to see whether they still exist or have been fixed, this software is included in the price.

Each bug is placed in a category and rated on severity, with any relevent comments.
These range from discrepancies between the Help text and Dbpro (at the unsevere end) to DBpro users exposing themselves to security risks when executing a dbpro exe, potentailly allowing hackers to have admin access to your machine to run malicious code.

The largest category by a long way is the 3d. with over 70% of bugs coming from there. Patch`s 4 and 5 have added over 220 bugs to our list (as well as removing over 160) and we are still uncovering bugs in patch 5.
Imagine patch 6 containing over 500 bug fixes and giving DBpro full(er) functionality, with our Bug Database, it is possible.

While 500 bugs seems a lot, some bugs are duplicated accross Graphics cards, with different results using the same code. The geforce MX series causing the most problems, this way 1 bug can actually be 2 or 3 seperate bugs. Also, since patch 5, added functionality is responsible for at least 50 new bugs so far (check out the bugs database on this very site for at least 20 of them)

We are asking for £2000 for our years worth of Bug work (bear in mind there are 4 of us) to release this database, whereupon DBS/TGC can fix and provide you with the DBpro you so wish. We are confident that with the bug info we provide DBpro could be a winning,working piece of software.

The alternative is to wait for DBS/TGC to become aware of these problems and fix them, and as the last year has clearly shown (if you`ve studied the bugs like we have) this could/will take forever to happen.
Their approach seems to be that if it isn`t oft reported, then they dont need to fix it.

We hope that DBS/TGC take our offer as this will benefit ALL members of the DBpro community, it`s been a year so far, lets not make it another year.

Are the Blitz forums down again or something? I'll leave this post for sheer amusement value, nothing more.

well if they were real they would probabley already have an account on the forums, not one thats just been created with a 12 year old way of writting (You Fix DBPRO) and they would probably have a profile.... with a web site.. and at least an email address. Sad little men...

...as if they actually spent time writting that post.

I would like to report bugs in their post

the following spelling errors:
relevent
releated
unsevere
potentailly
accross
seperate

"The alternative is to wait for DBS/TGC to become aware of these problems and fix them, and as the last year has clearly shown (if you`ve studied the bugs like we have) this could/will take forever to happen."

If this was for real they'd have emailed us about it rather than posting it here. They didn't. Nuff said.

£2000 / 4 = £500
£500 / 52 weeks = 9.60

Salaried, 9.60 / 37.5 (Average UK working week) = 26 pence / hour.

oh look!! a rather silly post!, yes! Pro has more bugs than it realy should, but then so does Windows, and Microsoft are considerably richer than TGC, go through XP and locate all the bugs and security issues and then offer the results to MS, I`m sure you would be well paid for your trouble there, after all, they can easily afford it, maybe you could put your wages up to the national minimum wage (before you get fined for underpaying yourselves).

I see posts like this very annoying. I know that many people consider themselves a 'DBPro programmer' or a 'Bl*tz3D' programmer', but there are some coders like me who use a lot of tools: Bl*tz3D when I need it, DB when I need it(haven't purchased DBPro yet), P*reBasic when I need it, or C++ when I need it, and find this type of things very stupid. I don't know if the guy who started this topic is a BB coder or what... if he is, he would better use his time coding instead of flaming the forums. I don't go to the BB forums to criticise DBPro, and i don't go to this forums to criticise BB, but I have to say that i feel offended when I see one part or the other saying things like this. The sad part is that most DBPro coders that criticise the other product have never tried it, and most BB coders that criticise DBPro only used DBv1.

I simply would like that if you use BB does not mean that you're a DB-hater, or at least that's my case and the case of many other coders, and i have found a little offensive this kind of comments, specialy one of them coming from a TGC employeer which I consider a nice person. Because, Mr. Davey, you know I offered myself to write some DBPro tutorials, I even send you the first pages of the first of them, and I also use BB, but I have never entered here to flame DBPro or anything. I read this forums a lot to know the news about DBPro, because I think it is a very interesting product which will mature with time, and when I read the forums and see comments like this, I personally feel offended.

Sorry for this post, I don't want to waste bandwidth or turn this into a discussion about any other product, but I simply would like to help this forums beign a better place for everyone, including people like me. A lot of respect to the work of TGC and the users of this forums

Greetings people of the forums,

I am a small one man team who took the liberty to count the errors in $#%^# basic. The only problem is, I'm still counting now. I only ask that you pay me 1 USD per error discovered in $#%^# basic. I've also taken it upon myself to create a database that contained all the erros in $#%^#. Ranking each one on, severe, ultra severe, disaster, Don't touch, and 57 new errors discovered in $#%^# basic.

You have only two choices.

$#%^# Basic must be taken to the fires of mount doom inside of
$#%^# land, and then stomped on and burned.

£2000 for bug testing when they were'nt hired to. I see, so does this mean the rest of us are going to get paid when Lee released the public betas of patch 5 that WE tested. Oh well, we can always hope

Quote: "Imagine patch 6 containing over 500 bug fixes..."

They think DBPro has 500 bugs? Is that a realistic figure? Well only if Lee has had his eyes glued shut while he was typing in his code.

Quote: "The Geforce MX series causing the most problems..."

Strange, I'm using a Geforce 2 MX and I'm having no major problems with it other than it's older than Gandalf the Grey (and moves a lot slower).

Come on people... why are you getting so defensive about? I simply said that I use some tools to make my projects, BB between them, and I have been flamed because of that...

haggisman, I want to state clear that I'm not the guy who posted the stupid post at the beginning of this thread. Why should I get flamed then? I have said that i like DBPro, although I use many programming languages... is really that bad to say that i don't use ONLY DBPro? This looks like a racist attitude to me... "does not mind if you said you like DB or not... you said you use BB as well, so you're not welcome here".

Ok then people, sorry for my posts, but I would really like to know what I have done wrong here to be treatened like this. Maybe you ppl you make a dinstiction between a programmer who likes to learn as much as he can (like me), a Blitzer, or a DB-Hater (like it seems that the person at the beginning of this thread is).

Jedive, I think you have a point. I've never used Blitz Basic, but from a graphics perspective, I can agree totally with you. I use Corel for some stuff, Photoplus for others. You don't get more different than these 2 products, but even the more expensive one doesn't do some of the things that the cheap one does.

In the business programming world, it's called Best of Breed. I'm not going as far as to say everyone should buy both products, but I'm sure both products can and should learn a little something from the other.

That said...the guy that started this thread was still an a**e for being so vindictive. Wrong Place, and Rich is right to defend on home territory.

Blitz and Dark Basic are both good programming languages. It all depends on what you need. No need to argue about it. Attacking the DB on their own forum is just childish though.

@Haggisman:

Ok, then you say posts like "hehe new swear word for stupid/annoying/any peeps>>> 'You Blitzer!' oops sorry 'You B******'" were not referred to me. In that case, no problem. I only want to point that was not my intention to offend anyone in this forum, so i were surprised for the answers my post recevied.

About the racist attutude, it was just a way to express that i think you were prejudgin me. English is not my native language and 'racist' was the most appropiate word i could find. Sorry.

@StevieVee:

Yes, you have understood what i meant. About this: "That said...the guy that started this thread was still an a**e for being so vindictive. Wrong Place, and Rich is right to defend on home territory."... of course he was, but i wrote my post simply to state clear that I am usually at Blitz forums, and i am usually at these forums, and when i am bored I don't enter here to flame anyone just because he is using DBPro. I simply pretended to say that not all the people that use B3D hate or are in any way against DB or its users, mainly because a lot of BB coders use DB also (or you would say it this way if you prefer: some DB users use B3D also ). So I meant that Blitz users does not come here to flame when they're bored of coding (at least I hope they don't :S). There are conflictive people everywhere, of course also in the BB community!!!

@yellow
"Attacking the DB on their own forum is just childish though." Are you telling this about my post? Was not my intention in any way.

Cya guys

There are two reasons that we don't allow blitz posts here:
1) TGC don't advertise competing products
2) It brings the 'them and us' clowns out of the woodwork
