Update! (@mods: this post can be deleted )

after readig the reply of kBessa, i was suprised.
So i tested the DGK initialization on my pc and 29mb! whaaaaat?
my laptop says 200MB and pc 29mb? wieeeeeerd!

So DarkGDK has defeated the XNA with initialization that makes me verry happy (because i like DarkGDK more then XNA).

So now i need to find out why my laptop keeps saying 197.668 K?
on PC i am using Windowd 7 clean install and also on my laptop.

@kBessa:
Thank you for ur time and testing! verry kind of you.

Are you really sure about it?

I just created a project here, only put a single plane on screen, plus I called onde of my plugins to put some triangles on screen (it also involves loading SlimDX), and it used only about ~30MB.

Could you show us the code you've used to get this whopping 200MB?

You're welcome! Glad I could help!

I once thought about moving to XNA, but DGDK.NET is my home, and as a past contributor, it feels very good to be at home.

As soon as the next release of DarkGDK is out, I'll release the new version of DarkGDK.NET which will have numerous bug fixes pertaining to the main class library.

But in the meantime, I'm just happy to see that DarkGDK.NET is being used for good, and not evil

Paul.

Well, we've not been destroyed by an evil DarkGDK.Basic3D.Object3D derived comet yet

@APEXnow,

Greate work, DarkGDK.net is sweet ( you must be proud) in many peoples eyes you have defeated MS programmers(XNA).

DarkGDK(.net) - Easy and fun to learn, and with the right skills you can build powerfull 2D game (i dont know about 3D).

I have 3 questions for you.

1: Will you ever seperate the 2D and 3D part? because someone like me does not want all the 3D functions, just 2D. That way the dll files will be also smaller.

2: When will be the next release? i am waiting for that soo bad!
there are some bugs that makes me creazy.

3: will you ever build custom Text functions and bitmap font functions?

When you seperate the 2D from 3D and the bugs are fixed and you have new text class. then this will be the greatest Game Development kit ever!
( then i would not mind to buy the new version, money is then well spent)

Waiting for ur replay, thanx in advance.

1 and 2 I can't answer.

About #3 question, I think you have now found LightText for all you DirectX Font needs.

I'm currently working on a new Plugin that may have a more advanced version of LightText, but certainly will have bitmap fonts.

Just FIY, I never tested the plugin with a real bmp file, but right now I'm generating a font texture on the fly, and using it to write things on screen, so yeah, it already has the code there, I just have to make it read from a file and somehow pass the font's parameters (width, height, kernings).
