So i was looking through the utilities of my 3ds max trial and i noticed that there was a tab called motion capture. What i want to know is if this is actual mocap that can be used in models as animations or will this only record a video refference to animate by. Also if 3ds max can record mocap to be used in animation could someone direct me to another site, forum, or tutorial that tells how to use this mocap function.
P.S. I do not wish to know which program is better at mocap i only want to know about 3ds max.

its for loading & editing mocap files not for recording them

you would need a very expencive mocap rig to do that

cheers henry

The mocap allows you to import premade mocap files (like BVH, BIP and CSM'S if i believe) onto your rigs. You can't directly record mocap inside max, i'm also pretty sure you probably don't have the facilities to record your own motion capture anyway.

EDIT: Beaten to it, shouldn't write so slow...

i knew either way i would have to buy a mocap rig(not likely going to happen). Im just trying to get an idea of what all 3ds max can do from a user's point of view.
