I am new to FPSC so first let me say how impressed I am with the flexibility and ease of use of the "Creator". For one who has struggled with the editors in other games (I go way back to the first Doom editors) I find FPSC to be a real gem.

I searched the forums for this and did not find an answer to my problem/question.

My question is about the sample game moderday.fpm. I can't seem to get it to build. Windows reports that FPSC has stopped working when I try to build the game or perform a "quick level preview". It stops at "Build game engine started" in the status box that appears in the centre of the editor. I can "test play the level" and it seems to work.

The other sample levels seem to build just fine but after some checking I found that "quick level preview" causes FPS to stop with any of the sample games.

Now for my system specs and other pertinent data:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+ 3.00GHz
4.00 Gigabytes of RAM
Video Card is a Sparkle GeForce GT 220 (yeah I know... *sighs* Please don't laugh. My old one died and I was low on cash at the time.)
Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit operating system

FPSC is installed in C:\Programs (x86)\FPS Creator (this avoids the Vista write protection on the Program Files directory)
I own the full FPS (just bought the FPS Bonanza) and I checked the userdetails.ini file to be sure it has my name and serial number.

I am a fairly computer literate user. So if there is some log file I need to/can check to find the error then please let me know.

Thanks for any help that can be offered.

Never use quick level preview. It is faulty and doesn't work. If you want to test your games, use the test game facility ONLY.

Ah. Good to know. Thanks.
Any idea why the modernday.fpm crashes FPSC on building the game?

Does it give and error, or where the process of building the game was?

Only what I posted above. FPSC shows "Build game engine started" in the little status box that displays in the centre of the editor when building the game.

Correction to last response...
It displays the "Starting Build Engine" just under the build progress bar and then crashes. Sorry for the confusion over what I thought I saw.

@VENT
I guess I forgot to mention that my copy of FPSC is up-to-date - version 1.16.018.

I'm certain it's something wrong with that map. Well, I assume it is because the other sample maps, sci-fi, simple and terrorstrike FPIs build with no trouble. I should note that I haven't made any changes to the modernday.fpi map. So I don't think I could have messed it up.

I am including the two screen shots of the error I get from FPSC and Windows. There's not much info there but in the forum "follow thread" eMail I received you had asked for pics of the errors.

First error:

Second error window that pops up after the first one:

I am beginning to wonder if this isn't specifically a problem on my machine since I didn't see any other mention of it on the forums.

Really though if this is simply an error in that game file then it's no big deal. If so I do find it strange that no one else reported this as a problem. That's why I thought maybe it was on my end. I was just afraid I might be having some incompatibility problems.

I don't want to make this a huge issue. I'm just trying to be sure that:

A. My copy of FPSC is not corrupt.

and

B. That it isn't my system.

Thanks for the reply's everyone.
