you've only posted once here (i believe) so it'll be hard to get people to believe that you wont just rip us off and take our money. I hope you don't do that to whoever enters.

You have misspelled multiple words in your description and site. Not really in good standards when asking people to send you money to participate.

You're expecting participants to buy into a tournament without even getting to see the maps they'll playing on? Are the prizes for the tournament even listed (all I can see if "cash prize"...how much?)?

@kravenwolf

the tornament is free to enter and as for the maps we are keeping them a secret to make sure it is a fair play. we are trying to get as little leakage as possible about the content. we will realese more info nearer the time of the tornament.

Your website looks very cluttered with ads thanks to freewebs (now webs) starting to put ads all over their clients' webpages. I would recommend http://000webhost.com. A lot nicer to use in my opinion...

This doesn't seem to be very well organised. It also looks like you threw this thread together in about 2 minutes flat. There is absolutely nothing that makes me want to join your tournament. You also can't expect people to join without letting them see the maps. Why aren't there any previews? Are they that bad?

A) john (syko games) learn to spell.
B) this is NOT a hoax as i am a part of his "company" (or dev team if you will).
C) i am also a host of the tounament.
D) the maps can't be shown becase of confidentiality but we can give basic demo maps to show the quality of the official maps. i just need to get Win-Zip (or the equivalent) to get them down to a smaller size

It sounds like a really good idea with lots of potential, but there's a few things you'll need to do to generate some interest to make people become involved with it.

Firstly, you need to announce prizes. People respond to incentives, and prizes (especially if they involve cash) is a big one. If you are able to get enough people to participate, I'm sure Errant and TGC will throw in a few guns/model packs and other generous forum members would contribute various sounds, entities, models and segments.

Secondly, you need to construct a professional, informative thread which contains all information, including pictures of the maps and possibly links to videos of the map, a list of prizes, current teams and participants, and details on the actual tournament itself (when it will occur and under which timezone).

Good luck with this. If you don't do any of the above, this tournament will crash and burn. I hope it doesn't, because it sounds like it could be a lot of fun.

i can understand your point abou the prizes as this is a form of motivation in a sense. the prize will be cash (hopefully!). once we have had at least one tournament to see how well(?!) it went then maybe think of taking on other peoples ideas to improve the next ( if there is a next). and as i have said we can only show you different maps to the ones that will be used because of the fact that people can get a head start on the map than others and we want it to be a fair contest. and thats about it

Showing pictures of the maps is not so people can gain an advantage over others, it's so they can see the quality of the maps. Besides, if you give an advantage to everyone then surely no one is at an advantage? Once again, it's simply a method of gaining intrest.

You have to show us pictures of your maps. This is promotion and advertising, which is vital for your product/service to be a success. How do you think games like Call of Duty or Battlefield Bad Company sell their games? They release teasers of their maps and gameplay, to entice people.

I feel otherwise, as there has not been any sort of community activity since Gunn3r organised Emergence, or something like that.
