Hi, im buying a macbook pro with this specs:

2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB
ATA 320 GB a 5.400 rpm
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M

And i read many posts that were asking if the fpsc x9 runs on mac, but some said yes and some said no. I really want to know if it runs on bootcamp or even on the mac os, thanks. Sorry for the bad english.

I'm not too sure, because FPSC requires DirectX9 (which obviously won't run as standard on a Mac) but I don't know about bootcamp. You could dual boot Windows, or you could save yourself a looot of cash and not get a Mac.

Mac has DX11 (if just buyed one), tho it cant run FPSC, as FPSC isnt made for Mac Systems, only Windows Systems.

It'll work fine with bootcamp. I have Windows XP on mine and it runs better than my (sadly dead now) pc.

Where are you getting your information from Red Eye and Jaeg.

DX11 on mac as standard?

What was your PC before switching to a virtual machine that is supposedly better? - a 386?

DirectX is a PC library, even if they made a DX for the mac, it wouldn't just be able to run FPSC out of the box. DX has had over a decade to mature on the PC - it can't just be ported onto the mac!.

To run FPSC on a mac you need to use virtual machines, in other words your Mac has to pretend to be a PC, which inhibits performance. There are engines and languages that run on the Mac and PC, but they don't ever use DirectX - DBPro is practically DX wrapped up in a basic language, and that's where FPSC came from - without DX it's of no use to anyone.

Please don't turn this into another Mac Vs. PC debate.

I had no problem installing and ruinning FPSC on a boot-camp mac.

I don't though, I like my computer to be in my room, and I prefer a desktop.

It explains things beautifully Daniel.

They made a DX version for Mac - but it's not DX11, it's not even DX anything, it's DX Mac, and it still needs specifically programmed for the Mac - no existing DX games can be ported automatically, it's just an option for multi-platform development.

There is no way that FPSC will run on a mac without running windows too, with it's own DX version. So my question is really, Why? - why would you go and buy a mac, spend twice what you would compared to if buying a PC, then go and install a PC OS on it, and use it just like if it was a PC. Why not just buy a damn PC!

People should look at other avenues for mac development, and not force a horse into the back of a taxi. Ok that's a weird thing to say, but I know what I mean .

I'm a teaching major and my college requires I get a Mac. Bootcamp isn't a virtual machine. When you use it it's basically partitioning your harddrive and you can install any operating system on it just like you would a PC. There isn't a performance drain whatsoever. And I said nothing about it having directX 11.

EDIT My old computer was a single core with XP and 2 gigs of ram. It was a decent computer. There is something wrong with the motherboard causing it do turn off at random times... I'm hoping to resurrect it once I get time away from school.

@Jaeg I have a mother board that did the same thing. I swapped out the parts and tried different ones, And come to find that is was a glitch in one of my card's i had in the slots.

At first I thought it was the ram. I did a test on it and it turned out a stick was bad. But the computer kept turning off so I thought it was a slot changed the slots and still did it. I'm going to have to sit down with it and eliminate all the possible sources of issues.
