Hey,

I am having troubles with installing Direct X 9c on computer at my school. It has directx9a, i need 9c tho.

Can I somehow integrate it in FPSC and/or DBPRO.

Any idea how to bypass?

PS: Ofcourse only for personal use. As i have FPSC backuped on my Hardisk.

most schools have it locked so you cannot install other software/updates on there computer not sure if there is a way around it but i dont think so

I think the reason he is asking is because he intends to run FPSC on the school computer from an external media (his hard disk). The computers more than likely won't whine about it, since it was not downloaded or installed. That is, unless they have the same stupid software that my school had which only allowed priviledged apps to run, and any other App would be instantly ended upon loading up.

I got away with things because they had to allow other programs to run during programming class.

They have that, tho. I can only install it with admin rights. U bypassed that? And yes we got sort of noobie programming lessons, tho it is more theoretical, anyway we cant install anything there too tho. Ideas?

There might be something you can do. If you research into Portable Applications.

I have used a few portable applications like WireShark that you extract to a folder on say a USB key. That folder contains all windows components needed to run that application. When you run the program the Application loads up an instance where it will have its own windows directory, program files, etc.

Not sure if you can do Direct X this way, (and it will probably cost money), but you can try it.

Anyway, could it be done if i would install Damn small linux, run it from usb, and then install dx9c and move it to the windows folder?

Our school has a system that scans all USB devices, and deletes EVERY .exe, .mp3, and other file formats.

Even when shift is held (thus windows will not run the USB key, but just say it is inserted)?

Luckily our school isn't that cheap but the PC's suck, they are really slow, specially the one's in our libary, they only have 512mb of memory but my school thinks that they can run Windows server 2008 which is basicly windows vista, stupid school should learn more about system specs insted of just waking some random PC together.

Anyway, on topic :

You would have to install DirectX as a driver cause it is a Driver. Most School computers dont normally have a DX9 compatible card inside though so its quite useless. Also most schools have a server that all the other PC's use to get apps and other things off so you would have to install DX9 on that server which would be close to impossible.

Windows 7, Amd Athlon 7750 Black Editon (64 bit,3ghz + Dual Core), ATI Readon HD 4870 1gb Edition, 4gb Ram.

Bigsnake: No DX9 compatible cards? U gotta be kidding me,unless the computer is 7 years old,any integrated graphics card runs DX9.

Aaagreen: An USB CD-Rom is the solution.The computer will not be able to delete stuff from a cd
