Check out even more work, plus my demo reel at my recently rebuilt site, www.crydrk.com

Needless to say, these first images need anaglyph (not polarized) red/cyan (not red/blue) 3d glasses. Temple set in the Mewtwo picture modeled by Kelly Elgass, I just stole it off the school server. (With her permission of course)

Mewtwo redesign model. From mesh, to sculpt, to rig in 3 days. As I am not a modeler, the rigging is what I'm proud of (and was the focus) on this project. It is 7k tris with a proxy mesh for renders. I will be resurfacing a lower polygon version for the get me in the game competition.

Transformer Model by a classmate, Kyle Johnstone. I rigged it. (and yeah, it transforms)

Halo Hunter redesign sculpt. Kind of old, but many might not have seen this.

I must say ive very jealous of your course.

Three questions since im a kid in a candy shop with stuff like this.

At a guess what was the entire render times of the reel?/ well build time since some was screen recorded.

I couldnt place the program =/ was it max 2010? or maya 09?

Any recommendations on books/sites that you use in class or for reference, or is it all on the severs?

- Im going to have alot of free time till my course starts in summer so i want to be rehearsed in as much as possible. Plus the systems you used are just epic.

Anyway fantastic work, the music was on par, the presentation style was great, just generally epic really.

Limit myself to 3 questions lol.

sleepy now

Can't give you a good answer, sorry. Some of this work was done at different times throughout the year. But countless hours of rendering. We had 25 computers but no renderfarm so I wrote my own batch script that lets you simply drag the maya file onto the batch file on every computer that you want to render on, and they would work together over the server. That definitely sped things up. We calculated my system being about 500% faster and much less error prone than doing it manually.

Maya 2009

We don't have any books. Our teachers record every lesson, so that's helpful, but I don't use them. It's a hassle taking them off the server and I prefer to pay attention the first time. But Gnomon dvds are great resources, well worth the money.
