Does anyone know of or have an actual network dll for DB Pro that would allow for things such as communicating via TCP/IP connections, datagram sending/receiving, listening for incoming packets etc.?

The included network functionality is nice, but it leaves a bit to be desired when you wish to write something with a full-fledged server/client type architecture.

I'd hate to waste time writing something that already existed.

Looks like that will take care of the TCP/IP stuff. Any .dll out there for datagram communications?

I haven't seen too much mentioned about the User Datagram Protocol in these forums, mostly just TCP/IP.

That's odd, considering most, if not all, of the big name multiplayer games make use of UDP as their networking protocol of choice.

It would seem that persons endeavoring to create games of high quality would want to emulate this particular aspect.

There's not really that much point unless you have already decided to write your server code in another language.

DirectPlay is already UDP based and has far more built-in cleverness than most network coders could come up with.
