Get fragmotion (It's $50.00, and a TON better than MS3d, trust me)
And for modeling download wings 3d, its free and EXTREMELY powerful, I can make anything I want to with it and it's uv-mapper is better than uv-mapper pro

To be honest, milkshape, is alot better for the price. It also imports perfectly into FPSC as far as i know, the rescources and tutorials cover everything.

Id go with it.

milkshape's animation still confuses me but at the same time trying to texture and animate is still hard for me. as the time goes i keep trying to improve my modeling skills as well. i own wings 3d, blender, and milkshape. i only know how to use wings 3d for now.

Yeah but you dont have the cash

The only way someone on your level would get it is the naughty way.

What happens when you give a new driver a bugatti veron?

Never mind the huge legal part, you wouldnt know where to start.

Try the others suggested. Blender is a great subsitute for max and its free. Once you understand the UI and shortcuts you'll find it easier.

Blender, Max, Maya... Anyone claiming that one is better than the other is stating preference and not singing gospel.

For me, I use Blender in my spare time for the simple reason that all others cost money. And Blender does EVERYTHING I need it to, including better UV-unwrapping than I remember from Maya.

Really, the only trick is to stick with one program and get good at it. The result will likely be the same, irrespective of the program, as long as you learn one method really well.

i would say, get MS3d, it is perfect for making low poly objects, i usually rather use it for that than 3ds max tbh, but when it comes to complex stuff, it is... not so flexible, since u cant select in the 3d viewport, and it only supports tri's, but it is rather good tbh, and is VERY good for people new to 3d, i used it as an introduction, and i must say, it was def worth it, it can import and export 20-30+ diff fileformaths aswell

if you have no dough than head up for wings 3d and animation would maybe be heading for character fx which is now for free. if you're very good than head up to blender 3d. other than that milkshape is good but for it's price. other software might be good but if you don't want to spend money at all than blender, wings3d, and character fx are my choices. use the free ones first than after that than you can decide on the next cheaper ones.
