Does anyone want more instruments for this..... i could release an update to include most of the 128 standard instruments.....but it takes up hd space. If there is enough demand for it ill do it :p

@SMD_3D Interactive, downloading the latest version now. I had a play with an older version last night and I really love it. I used to make a lot of music but haven't much time any more. Maybe this app will help me get started again!

Where can I download more instruments from? Specifically I could use a LOT more drums...?

Of course I'll let you know if I find any bugs.

I will be releasing more instruments as soon as i get time. As for drums sets i may need to get another external midi keyboard to sample from as the one im using only has the 1 standard set.

Great to hear that you like it!

Got some exciting news!!

there is now 10 patch channels and is also an automated process for loading at the click of a button.

Also im going to be skipping a release number and making this one 2.0

This release will have all 128 patched instruments as well as a few extras.

Will release a video shortly this week to showcase it.

Here is a song that was auto patched at the click of a button :p

I think it sounds amazing just the difference of being able to load more patches at once!

FeedBack Welcome

Also this song is not free to use in projects and is actualy from a game SecretOfMana3 (SquareEnix)

But enjoy listening!

the original midi is included as well as the recording from QmidiStudio ver 2.0

Wow! Excellent! Brilliant!

I had to view the video in full screen because I had to.

This would be definitely something I would play with a lot "IF", and I've not read through all the posts yet...

1. Standard MIDI channel 10 by default is the percussion?
2. Ability to import "SoundFonts"?
3. Record from a MIDI device?
4. Quantise a score sheet?

I wrote many years ago a tracker program for MIDI on the Amiga, just like NoiseTracker and Protracker but with the added functions for MIDI. At the time I couldn't use Soundfonts until I started using CakeWalk on a PC. Although I got basic quantising done I couldn't do the rest mainly because of the speed of the recorded input data.

Big thumbs up!!!

Mental arithmetic? Me? (That's for computers) I can't subtract a fart from a plate of beans!

Quote: "2. Ability to import "SoundFonts"?

"

humm.... #1 definetly
#2 it doesnt support sound fonts....however i have developed a patch system that would work simular. In that video you see me loading patch files in to replace the midi stuff.

#3 Record from a midi device....humm.... Do you mean sample from a midi device? Or capture you playing on an external device?

It can use an external device to play over but does not work very well. It does not capture play but can capture sound tones to create somthing simular to sound fonts. (seperate app i made to do this)

#4 score sheet..... humm...It only supports 4/4 bar if that means anything to you.....the funny thing about this application is that i have no general background in music at all.....

But try it out as it does work well for me...

What can QM DO?
-export midi
-record stereo wav 2,16,22000khz i think....but i could add an option to make it do higher if you wish
-encode to ogg vorbis
-create midi loops (simular to magix music maker) but in my eyes better as you can edit the raw loop.
-auto patch midi files to use recorded sound tones (simular to sound fonts)

and much more...

Anyways im releasing 1.9 right now as i decided to add more before release 2.0 is ready.

Install instructions:
-WARNING if you do not follow the instructions you may be wasting a tun of disk space so read please!

-Uninstall any previously installed copy of qmidi studio
-goto your [my documents] folder
-Find [Qmidi Studio] Folder and go inside
-Find the folder [Dts] and drag it in the trash

(failing to do so will result in about 300 meg of wasted space)*estimate

-now install the new version 1.9 that will require 640 meg to install as it has 130 patched instruments.

Enjoy

I just found out today that the patch instruments cut out alot during playback......funny nobody says anything about it...

Anyways I've found the source and it looks like the buffer does not empty when the song is stopped thus pressing play again it sounds ruff on most fast paced songs.

I will release just a patch for this for now so you do not need to download a huge file to fix it.

So you will need to have at least installed version 2.0 and you can download the patch file and copy it over the exe file as a temporary fix.

I will make one final update to Qmidi Studio in late December. If You find something thats just not working let me know as this program will be shelved for future projects.
Also if you have any quick requests i can code in lets hear them.....before time runs out!

Im Going to redo alot of help videos in December since alot of the interface has changed since the original release in Feb2010

Some time this week i will have the new awesome digital instruments loaded into place but for now if you had downloaded an early release the other patch instruments should still work untill i get these uploaded.

The First Pack will be the 128 GM Set(Digital) (not the originals all new)
The Second Pack will be 16 DrumKits(Digital)
The Third Pack will be additional Guitars(Digital)
The Fourth Pack and final will be an additional about 100 - 300 instruments depending how the sampling goes.
and of coarse (Digital)
Again for those that have purchased Qmidi Studio in the past i will send you all these files for free!

Ok temporary.....the files are up and are a free download....to find them follow the link from the qmidi startup page once installed

the 128gm set is ~320meg download but well worth it
the other is a few meg~13 i think...dont quote me on that...lol!

Again these are only posted for a limited time! Untill i get the store front going.

Also make note that qmidistudio has its own forum....so any questions pop them away!

ok i have updated qmidi studio for the final time.

Added more tools and best of all.... Digital instruments now
follow midi track volume for a more realistic sound.

With this you are able to fade music tracks in and out and even have
a nice fading end to your song. I have also made a few pitch bend and volume bend options as well as the ability to double your song to extend the length of it.

I will be programming 1 final music application possibly by the end of the year.

Any requests for this one?

Ideas:
-External keyboard recording
-Network Music Editor (work on the same score with more then 1 person)
-multiple edit views
-no midi interface required. (will now rely on recorded instruments)
-Random Music Generator using music loops
-Better use of music loops and editting them.
-multiple resolution modes

I will start cracking into this one late august 2012.

But if you have any ideas for it please post and i will see what i can do.
