I'm trying to make a system so when an enemy gets shot, instead of dying, s/he just stands in place and halts all action.

I modified the default pace.fpi to make this,

but for some reason it doesn't work too well, and some enemies just don't stop moving no matter how many times I shoot them.

Is there any way to get this to work properly, or - ideally - have a death script where the enemy just stands in place instead of falling over and disappearing?

You need a desc= ********

And I think a header, end of script, triggers etc...

Nope, you don't need that. Yet I'm not sure what the problem is, sorry.

Remove the death animations in the character's fpe, but I would just copy and paste those files into a new folder so not to ruin the character for later use. If you want it to just stand there, but be dead use the destroy script keepalive.fpi or something like that. This should give you what you want. The animations to remove are these mark as such (<==== this one) :

Cool, my ultra-basic scripting knowledge came in handy.
