Hello, not asking any tech questions, just if anyone has made any RTS games at all? I remember a Cannon Fodder style game, I think Indi made, and a war game that was work in progress a while back, which looked pretty tasty to me. But I have a hard time finding anything much else in the same genre.
I only ask because I am currently working on one, hopefully to try on the intel app thingie at some point, possibly, maybe, lol. I am finding DB handles it way better than I anticipated beforehand, as long as I stick to basics and no shader effects are attempted. I have played, but it just slows stuff down too much and causes more problems than I would like.
So has anyone made or working on an RTS at the second? I would like to see what people have made of this genre. Mine is based around a Roman theme, as I like those sort of things, rather than C&C style games, which are fine but not as engrossing.
Edit - again lol, just thought I'd add an image of my game as far as it is done.

Indi wishes

I made Operation:Invasion Evasion, and had a damn good time making it. DBPro is great for RTS games I think, screenie looks cool, nice and bright - having it bright is a good idea for the Netbooks small display.

My younger brother wants to make an RTS, personally I've always wanted to do a prequel to OIE, set in WW2. Would take a lot of time to do all the modelling, but would be a very cool project to work on. Maybe one day I'll get onto that.

Lol, my apologies, also thank you for your email reply the other day. I haven't really done much with the terrain floor yet, but seem to have the scale close enough now. I know what you mean about the models, takes ages for me to make each building. My main hate is UV mapping and texturing as I find it difficult to match textures and such easily. Of course after I have finished the not inconsiderable graphics I have to cobble some sort of music together lol. Media can be so tiresome. Still when you see your creations in action it is worth it.
Perhaps the media issue is why there doesn't seem to be a lot of RTS games around here. When I first started this a couple of weeks ago I was considering getting the Roman pack off the FPS creator site. After checking out a few of the objects available at the game creator store I decided against it as there wasn't enough of it. Also the polygon count on the people was way too high, and was my main reason to purchase as I am not good at modelling people .
