UPDATE: Multiple entries are allowed provided you sequentially number your zip files i.e 1,2,3,4... with each submission.

Welcome to the FPSC Comic Contest, the aim of the competition is simple, to produce the best sequence of eight images which tell the whole or part of a story, the end result must flow like a comic strip.
You must use FPS Creator (X9/X10)to create the scenery and position the characters for your eight images, take a screenshot and add any effects or dialogue needed to create or continue the story.

Two separate examples are given below which present two different graphical styles:

Prizes

The popularity of the contest will determine whether there will be a runners up prize, however as it stands there is only one winner, the most creative and engrossing FPSC comic will win:

Two T-shirts from Ownage Tshirts (ownagetshirts.spreadshirt.co.uk), “Segment” and “FPS” designs

The coveted “Wehtam’s cup”

Rules

- Your eight images must be 720 x 404 pixel JPEGs
- mages must visibly show they originated from an FPS creator screenshot (I.e No heavy editing to the point of obscurity, use your own judgement)
- Images can use speech bubbles, dialogue and added effects sparingly (see above)
- Multiple entries are allowed provided you sequentially number your zip files i.e 1,2,3,4... with each submission.
- Competition ends Monday 10th May

Finished you entry ?
- Create a zip file named YourName-FPSCC.zip
- Inside the zip place your eight images labelled YourName-1.jpg to YourName-8.jpg
- Place a text file in your zip file called info.txt
The info.txt file needs to include the following information:

Your Full name
Your TGC name (if applicable)
Your comic strips name
Which FPS Creator you used (X9/X10)
Your country of residence

Please be aware that you will be expected to provide your full postal address, gender and shirt size should you win the contest.

- Send the zip file to fpsccon[at]wehtam.co.uk

All the information you provide in this file is SOLELY used for the contest and delivery of any prizes. I am not a company, and so have no desires to pass any information on

If you are concerned that your images are too heavily edited, you may include the original screenshots taken from FPS creator as evidence.

Good luck, have fun, and by all means post your WIP’s, ideas and questions in this thread

Wait, so it's Wehtham and not "Wehtham_"? Or is the underscore left out on the cup because it would look strange..?

Edit: Can we use X10?

le shorte The "Wehtam" as you see on the cup is my true branding, it is the splash screen that my games and "funny" videos follow after. My forum title has an underscore because "Wehtam" was taken. (That's a lot of speech marks)

Yes you can use X10, thanks for the question I have amended the first post to include it.

Glad to hear it! It will also be interesting to see what methods or filters people use to mimic a comic book effect, although adding such visual effects is not mandatory. If you can convey an engrossing story in eight frames but lack certain graphical capabilities, you will definitely get bonus points for your writing/plot and mood.

Forgive me if I have made it confusing, just think of it as eight pictures.
Your entry will be eight, 720 x 404 pixel JPEG images

Awesome idea Wehtam, won't be participating but I'll follow this contest gladly, can't wait to see what entries this gets.

Those shouldn't even be using FPS Creator in the first place.

That's why:

On topic:

Is it alright to have our eight frames different sizes and shapes? Sometimes telling a story in comic form is enhanced with unique frame layouts and shapes.

Yes, I would certainly hope to expect that from parents. I like to think I make it clear in the first post that you will be required to provide such info should you want to win something. If you believe your parents would not allow you to provide this information then please do not submit an entry. I can't say it plainer than that. Thanks for the question.

The size restriction ensures that I don't receive massive files, that I can paste some entries here and not worry about certain entries outsizing others and that I can include them in a video should I wish to present the submissions in an engrossing manner.
I totally understand your desire here but I hope you understand my reasoning for not allowing size variations

Remember guys and gals you have plenty of time!

@ Wetham-

Am I the only one that get your latest comic strip?
You're obviously making satire at FPSC V1 and Beyond Life.

I thought it was brilliant.

BTW, I'm liking this compo idea. I should definately enter.
I love that FPS shirt the most btw. Nice designs mate.

Also, how many entries are allowed because lets say I have two ideas
but can't decide between both. Nothing in the rules limits us to 1
entry... so, what it the rules on that?

Thanks for reading.

syko games Glad to hear it and thanks!

Bugsy Submission received, thanks

ASTEK Hehe, thanks. D'oh I forget to cater for multiple entries in the rules. It's a good idea too, as it doesn't affect anyones previous submissions and benefits everyone. I think I might allow that, I shall update the rules in post #1 and make it known that multiple entries are allowed provided you sequentially number your zip files i.e 1,2,3,4... with each submission.
Thanks ASTEK, I certainly hope you give the contest a bash!

syko games Thank you for your offer, the advantage of myself being the sole provider of the prizes is that I am not dependant on anyone else on the forum to complete any prize giving promise. I prefer having total control in a contest as I can remain confident in knowing the goods can be delivered, thanks anyway.

Does it have to be 8 frames? Like is that the most you can have, or can you have less???

It does have to be 8 frames exactly, however the other frames can purely be establishing images with no text at all.

Let's say your comic is about a crime scene, your first image could be an establishing shot of the cityscape or dark scary alleys, or maybe your first frames are part of a dream sequence or nightmare the character has ?

The Master Dinasty Thanks for your praise

lotgd Hi! The reason I say 8 images is because I feel that is sufficient amount to satisfy those with a meaty story, or a story rich in dialogue. Remember that an image doesn't have to be crammed full of characters or speech bubbles it could just be a screenshot to establish the location. I don't want to allow people to create less then 8 purely to ensure everyone has a similar work load, I have already received entries that could have gone on for more than 8 images. I certainly hope to see an entry from yourself though
