Introduction

Hi guys! To celebrate the integration of a Badge system into the FPSC Game; Calibre (soon to follow will be a Title system!) Visual Studios would like to hold a small competition for several new Badges to be included in the official version of Calibre. There will also be the prize of the Calibre Segment Pack and any other donations from other users will be added to the prize list!

The possible entrances range from Badges with a picture of an exploding pineapple to modified screen shots of FPSC or its entities!

I hope that all those who enter enjoy making their Badge! I know I enjoy playing around with the effects in my graphics package! I hope you all do too

Prizes:

-> Calibre Segment Pack 1 (See attached image for all included media)
-> Use of the winning badge in the official release of Calibre

(!) All valid entrances will receive a copy of the red warehouse segment from the Segment Pack, as shown below:

Judges

Black Profductions

What are you entering?

The idea is to make a 'Badge' which is a similar concept to the Call Of Duty 'Emblem'. You need to create an image which is 128x128 which can be used as a badge. And example of some of the badges we have at the moment are shown below. The badge will then be mounted onto the Calibre logo background to complete it.

Badge Image. Badge Background.

Rules

-> The badge must be an original idea (you can not copyright an existing 'Emblem' from Call of Duty or any other game.
-> We have the right to use the Badge which is entered into this competition in Calibre with full rights.
-> You can not copy other designs from other users.
-> Any negativity shown towards any of the other entrances will result in your entry being removed (hopefully this wont happen).
-> You can have a maximum of three Badges entered into the competition.
-> Submissions must include a preview picture in a post with the download of a zip/rar file with images with the extension of png/dds to reduce compatibility errors.

Judging Criteria

-> 25% originality
-> 25% for quality of image
-> 25% on how interesting it is
-> 25% on general design

End Date

14/5/2010 - No Acceptions

Valid entries so far:

At some point today I will put up the judging criteria and the enterance form for you all I just need to speak to BP to check out how we should set it out and have an in-depth convosation about how many badge places there will be now that the thread is up (we have a total of 50 places -25 ranks which are finished and 25 other badge slots several of which are already occupied )

If you make the background of the badge transparent it will then be mounted onto the background which we have shown when in the official program. If you want to show a picture of your progress feel free to use the background but in your final entry make sure that there is not background included and that it is transparent

Here is a badge I did. It's for people who are good at stealth

Saved as TGA so it could handle the transparency

I attached a zip with 3 I've done in.

I can do more like that just with different images if you like. Just that 3 is the limit.

Thanks,

Ben

Cool guys I'll find a plugin for the gimp TGA And I'll put them in a folder for judging on the 14th

@Bigsnake

I can not find a working plugin, could you reattach it in the form of a png or a dds? They should save the quality and i can read those extensions Thanks

I deleted the file and cannot download the TGA for some reason. I recommend you get gimp so you can open it and convert it

People, please, post a preview screenshot on the formus, and the file to download compressed in a zip or rar with the images in .png format
James, please add that to the rules, so an image to be valid will need to follow that rules as well, its very confusing this way

I don't really know anything about Call of Duty, so I don't know what emblem is. But is it, lets say, achievemnt? Like in L4D2 or TF2?

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things that I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.

The idea is of a small badge like 128x128 image which you unlock when you complete a certain challenge/set of challenges/level/reach a rank. So the emblems in call of duty range from the rank badges as Pride mentioned to gun badges and badges for acts of stealth or showmanship. Do we have any more enterances guys?
