Hello friends,

I am thinking in purchase the Bonanza bundle, which comes with several TheGameCreators game creation tools. I would like to ask you somethings, before purchase it, and would be very grateful for any help.

1) I have not any knowledgement in programming and design. I really don't know nothing about programming and also don't know to draw anything. Do you think can I create a game using Dark Pro tools, even don't having programming and desing skills?

2) Taking in consideration what I have said above, do you think that Dark Pro solutions are better for me, instead the Torque 2D engine?

3) Are some of you developing and selling games created with the Dark Pro tools? Can you please share them?

4) I am afraid, really, in purchase the tool and don't get to do anything. Do you think this is a unnecessary fear?

I would be very grateful for any help.

Thank you very much, and sorry for my noob questions.

DBPro is free, well you can get it for free, learn from it, then if it takes off - get the bonanza pack or whatever good deals are going on at the time.

None of us start with design or programming skills, we come to places like this to learn the language and techniques. There are lots of tutorials to follow to get to grips with the language, and if you have an interesting game idea, people will offer to help out - and offer lots of advice. Whatever problem you have, you can be sure that someone here will have had the same problem and solved it.

Some of us are selling games through Intel's AppUp store, which is new - so there's always the chance to go onto making it a paying hobby.

Really, I think the best thing to do is grab the free version of DBPro, and check out some tutorials, see what you make of the language. One thing is for sure - you will not find an easier language to learn, or a better community to learn it with. Just get stuck in I say.

Hello,

Thank you very much for your help.

I was thinking also in Torque 2D, but I think it is very complicated, for me.

I think that the Dark Pro solutions will be my best choice. And, in my city, there is a school that offers a game creation training using Dark Pro game creation tools. So, I think I would buy the Bonanza Bundle, due to it.

Do you think this is a good idea?

Thanks again.

Like Van B said, just try the FREE version which will give you a good idea whether you will enjoy programming (have a little patience it takes time to learn).

If you enjoy the FREE version then spend as much as you like on bundles etc. but nobody can tell you what's best for you. Just try it first because it's FREE.

Did I mention you could try it first for FREE?

Hi,

I was try it.

Yes, I see that there is a free version.

I was thinking in purchase the bundle due to what it offers, and also due to its fantastic price at this moment.

And, I was also thinking on this purchase because of the training that a local school is offering, regarding game creation using DarkPro solutions, and I and thinking in participate of this training.

Thanks again!

I have been checking out Torque. I have a license for 1.4.2. Get the book 3D Game programming all in one by Kenneth Finney. Torque is hard but the book goes into great detail on texturing, modeling, skinning, sound and if you want to learn torque there is that too! A lot of stuff that can be applied to DBP, FPSC etc. The book also goes into Milkshape pretty deep. That's what I am doing with it. Learning everything else it teaches but not the Torque. I suppose one day I will get into that!

Hello Dragon slayer,

Thanks for sharing the name of the book from Kenneth Finney.

I am almost purchasing the "Dark" Bonanza bundle, and I already own Torque 1.7.4 indie licence. But this is something, I think, for the future.

I found a lot of threads and informations here at TheGameCreators community and website, and I think (perhaps I am wrong) that Dark Solutions are a great and most easy way for me to enter on the game creation field.

I will follow your suggestions, and learning all I can. I was taking a look at Gamemaker, a few days ago, but I think that tool is not something I would use in order to develop my projects.

Thanks again, you all, for your valuable help!

Hello JamesWalker101,

I'm glad in hearing this!

Do you had some experience on game creation, programming or design, before to use dbpro?

Cheers,

What is Torque 1.7.4? is that the new Torque 3D? I got my license about 4 years ago and haven't really done much with it. It is pretty cool and can do a lot. I think the real power of Torque is if you know C++ and can modify the engine to your needs.

You can do the same thing with FPSC if you can code with DBP good enough and DBP is a lot easier to learn. That book will teach you other things though such as making textures and texturing, how to create models with Milkshape, UV mapping, sounds and music with Audacity and a bunch of other stuff that you can use with DBP, FPSC, C++ or any other language you choose to use.

Hi Dragon slayer,

So, is the Torque 2D engine, the Torque Game Builder, version 1.7.4, current available.

I will try to purchase that book. And, I am now very propense to create games on Dark Pro tools, instead Torque. I have already purchase the Bonanza Bundle, moreover.

But, what is Milkshape?

Thanks!
