Hi,

Does anyone know of a way of having an animated texture which uses an alpha channel? I can't think of a file format that does it let alone how to do it in DB. I'm about to add some explosions to my game and this could be handy.

Thanks
Nick

Do you know how to make an animated sprite?
If not, we can help with that too.
I make mine .dds files A8R8G8B8 and an alpha tex.

I'm wanting to make a 3D explosion to match the physics. My physics work perfectly, but each explosion has a defined radius, which is something I'd like to match, if that makes sense

Use a billboard that you can scale. For better results, you can use multiple billboards.

I have thought of doing that. That's how I did my projectiles.

Thanks Chunks.

I'm not only wanting to know about animations with alpha just for explosions. I'll need them for other things like force fields which would be simply static models with an animated transparent texture.

you can make it youeself using simple paint program, same the format to ".bmp". you can download the expansion pack "texutre max" by DBPro. it will help you to create multiple channels then code the colour you want to display.
