ok guys yesterday while i was trying to sleeping i got an idea to how to make rolling balls or other physics stuff in fpsc. it just took my 10 minutes to make it.

you may wanna see what is that looks like
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HnT6vniCOo8(skip to 1:44 if you just wanna watch the balls. but i recommend watch it all.)

Excellent work! This should go into FPSC V117.

thank you all for positive comments. its much easier you think, and it possibly works every version of fpsc (i tried 0.9 and 1.5)

Maybe you should stop teasing us and enlighten us?

Great, a slight bit of a problem with the shadow at times with the balls but usable. Excellent.

All I'd like to know is if you modded the source code or if it was a script? You kind of make it seem as if it was simply scripted..

EDIT:

To tell you the truth. I'm not sure what is supposed to have been the improvement. Was it the shadows or was it the movement of the objects? It seemed to me that they move just fine without any scripting or coding.

Suggests it doesn't require a mod Unless it's a variable simple addition to the source code, which I doubt.

thanks but its just the dynamicshadows=1 thingy

That. Was. Epic.

How'd you do this man!? I've been longing for ball physics and rolling barrels in FPSC for too long to remember! Good work dude and we all can't wait to hear how you achieved this!

Don't you just have to change the collision. It's under collisionmode in the .fpe of the object. It's something like 0-box, 1-polygons, 2-reduced, 3-cylinder, 4-sphere

After a few tests it doesn't change the "rollingness" of it. So your doing something different.

Set the friction sky high (perhaps also increase the weight a little, if neccesary). I've tried it before, it works quite well for most objects. Barrels tend to bounce awkwardly when you throw them, though.

Yes, it is all in the friction. I didn't take alot of time on it, but I have a demo somewhere I will post it later for you all. Give me a couple hours.

The barrel drums look like they're still using box collision, the way they "roll" on their sides.

Here I remade it to look pretty, just kidding. The balls roll and all that good stuff. I played with a little, but I actually forgot I did this sometime ago. I used fenix mod, but if you want to see if it works without a mod then just replace the exe with what you want to test with. It should work like that, but I did not test that theory. Enjoy and I am sure Kalinka will fill you in on the rest.

yes starmind001 right, that was the secret. you must make physics friction very high like 1000000000 (and i made weight lighter like 300) here you go, that was the we all have waited for a long time and it makes dissappointment when you see the solution.

But you are right about the collision though. You have to change it for how you want the object to move. My friction and weight was much lower like 150 for the weight and 1000 for the friction.

There's no shame in bumping old threads if it's useful to people.
