Have you watched the series? There's not really much that could be featured on a video game to make the show look 'violent or bad', that they don't already use as the main element in each of their episodes.
I can't imagine this particular episode having much of an effect on the video game market. At least, nowhere near the same caliber when such controversy is depicted
outside of a fictional television series (that's when the real problem starts). Video game violence is a hot topic (always has been), and in this case and many others, the writers of the show chose to capitalize on society's controversial freedoms.
I remember one episode from an earlier season where the killer was imitating the acts of a Grand Theft Auto knockoff. But the outcome is always the same at the end of the show in the courtroom; the actions of the individual
cannot be blamed on the video game, or television series, etc. If that were the case, there would be millions of influenced gamers turned serial killers, and not the occasional one or two off their meds. A great message honestly, to get through to the people that point their finger on game industry for society's ills. Maybe with enough of these particular episodes, the message will finally start to sink in.
In any case, I can't imagine the people interested in cracking down on video game violence tuning in each week to watch a television series specifically about rape, pedophiles, drugs, and homicide in the first place. It's a bit ironic, dontchathink?
