EDIT: I think the original link I posted might actually have been a torrent site, so I'm just going to post the episode guide here, and see if I can find some screen captures.

EDIT #2: Attached a short 15 second video showing the two scenes with FPS Creator. Hopefully this will be okay.

Just saw this on television, and jumped on my computer as soon as I did. Spent about 20 minutes trying to find a link online. You'll see FPS Creator at around 5:10 in on the video, and again at 7:55. It's only shown for about 10 seconds, but it still counts!

"Video game exclusively aimed towards adolescent males".

No lightmapping, a few of Errant's MP9/MP10 weapons, and about 20 stock WW2 characters wielding Errant's MP5s.

Haha nice! If you look at the HUD there was well over 2000 health and a ton of ammo! Also gotta love the dubbed sound effects and the fact that the guy was playing it with a controller on a TV screen!

Alright, I couldn't find any screenshots (as expected), so I simply cropped together the two scenes showing FPS Creator in a short 15 second video attached to the first post.

EDIT:

Quote: "If you look at the HUD there was well over 2000 health and a ton of ammo!"

You can also see the test game information on the bottom of the screen. It wasn't even a built game!

Oh awesome!

This is epic!...

...Can they do that?

But seriously, that is awesome!

But they used stock media? FAIL

But yeah, maybe this could be advertising for FPSC. And people who watch Law and Order (so not 8-year-olds) will use FPSC more! This could be a sign...Maybe FPSC is finally going mainstream!

Or...not. Eh. Still awesome.

Actually, I'm not sure that this is a good thing. Seems to be putting this into a negative light.

Watch it Bond! Jeff is cool.

I loved him in the remake of 'The Fly'. (I dress the way I do thanks to him and Einstein)

Quote: "Wait till they get hold of V1.17!"

You got that right.

Quote: "...Can they do that?"

Yes, I am sure FPSC's license had a big role in the selection of game engines to use for those shots. (and the ease of use for creating a quick level)

I have a strong feeling that you'll be seeing more of FPSC on your TV screen once the lip synching gets in.

Quote: "But they used stock media? FAIL"

No, not a fail, that was a win for TGC because it made it obvious that is was FPSC being used for the shot and not another engine.

Quote: "Actually, I'm not sure that this is a good thing. Seems to be putting this into a negative light."

I'll have to watch the entire episode, but I think it is putting gaming into a negative light, and not the engine itself.

Nice. however i believe it needs some crit. crit you'd find in the wip section!

Try adding some lights.
6 billion cases of ammo isn't very realistic.
stock media? BOOORING
How'd you get so many characters in that one room?
are you using 1.16?
Looks nice for stock media.

but in all seriousness its cool that FPSC was on the TV. itr would have been better if they put a little more effort into the level.

yeah, well they're nnot level designers, they probably just threw that together. no one pays attention. also, I think that they paint the GAME in a negative light, not the engine, I mean, like... in the episode, did they say:

FPSC IS DESTROYING OUR ADOLESCANTS MINDS

I doubt it.

I sure wish they would have recruited one or two members from the forum while they were searching around on the homepage Would have been phenominal to see your own FPS Creator level on live television; as part of the show's storyline.

CE is right, it is putting gaming in a negative light. And that's what I was talkin' about.

What I think is that they couldn't get a game that could have had as much violence as they were able to create. Also, because this is putting gaming in a negative light, nobody would have allowed their games to be displayed like that. So, throw something together in FPSC with lots of NPCs and lots of shooting and lots of blood and they got what they wanted. In that sense not real at all. Video tape it and pretend their playing it on TV

My nephew who manages a store called Gamers, gets really tired of people in the media and in Hollywood trying to say that violent games are not good for the young.

Computer and console gaming is a threat to regular tv so I'm not surprised we see it used in a negative way. Happens all the time sadly.

Yeah, but you have to admit, it doesn't matter if they use stock media or not. The quality of the game does not matter.

They just wanted to throw some stuff together really quickly. No one needs to crit it.

But yes, TV always makes gaming look bad. I vote we fight back. Somehow.

We could make a game about the show, and make the show look bad through the game, then send it to the producers.

And on the subject of Jeff Goldblum did anyone hear about how much Hollywood presenter Richard Wilkins screwed up his "breaking news"?

Richard didn't bother to cross reference his facts that he got from a hoax website. Jeff Goldblum was never dead...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MelVwSt3sa0

and after that he got a guest shout out in Australian comedy show "Good News Week"

Yeah,
the dark story of the corruption of a multinational, money hungry CEO who has all people who depict his shows negatively, tortured. So he is free to sculpt and manipulate all the innocent viewers into human slaves that no longer have opinions or are able to thing for them selves.

Have you watched the series? There's not really much that could be featured on a video game to make the show look 'violent or bad', that they don't already use as the main element in each of their episodes.

I can't imagine this particular episode having much of an effect on the video game market. At least, nowhere near the same caliber when such controversy is depicted outside of a fictional television series (that's when the real problem starts). Video game violence is a hot topic (always has been), and in this case and many others, the writers of the show chose to capitalize on society's controversial freedoms.

I remember one episode from an earlier season where the killer was imitating the acts of a Grand Theft Auto knockoff. But the outcome is always the same at the end of the show in the courtroom; the actions of the individual cannot be blamed on the video game, or television series, etc. If that were the case, there would be millions of influenced gamers turned serial killers, and not the occasional one or two off their meds. A great message honestly, to get through to the people that point their finger on game industry for society's ills. Maybe with enough of these particular episodes, the message will finally start to sink in.

In any case, I can't imagine the people interested in cracking down on video game violence tuning in each week to watch a television series specifically about rape, pedophiles, drugs, and homicide in the first place. It's a bit ironic, dontchathink?

A little tooo ironic.
Yeah I really do think.

It's like rain on your wedding day.
It's a free ride when you've already paid.
It's the good advice that you just didn't take.
But who would have thought it'd figure?

Life has a funny way...

I haven't watched this episode yet (don't watch TV much not violent enough), but I will try to get someone to tape it for me to watch when I am visiting them.
I have argued for years that the people bad mouthing video game violence are the ones who can't distinguish fantasy from reality, thus they have the problem.
Anything other than blaming the ones acting out violently for their own actions is a cop out, and a desperate attempt to lay blame on someone else.
It's like saying "the Devil made me do it!" So, what's next? Blaming the Churches for teaching kids about the Devil?

mwuhahahahaha

I agree here. it's like people saying that video games are ruining people's imaginations. It'd really be the other way because a well made game is designed so that you can picture what you're playing would be like.

"Later, at Lisa’s apartment, Jason is playing a video game, seemingly lost in it, and Lisa is lying on the floor behind him, dead.""

I got that from wikipedia

They didn't need to contact Lee at all. The license allows you to use it royalty free and "there is no way to tell your game was made with FPSC."

And that is interesting. But how are people supposed to know it's FPS Creator? To them it could just look like an old video game.

Yeah, I guess they just wanted something that wouldn't breach copyright laws, so rather than use a commercial game they just made their own. It's really cool that they used FPSC, I guess they wanted as little coding required as possible.
