Hello out there in cyberspace!
My name is Scott and I'm looking for some creative people to help me with the start of my race program.
I've attached some sprites/bitmaps that I've been working on.
There are six sports cars, four frames a piece. Like race01s,race01ab,race01bb,race01cb for example. When animated the tires roll. I was hopeing someone could show me how? I can use these in a simple race game? By the looks of my graphics it seem that they would be suited for a 2d-game but... There are so many tricks that programmers know that maybe it they have other potential as well. I was wondering if someone/anyone could help me figureout how to race them around on a track with physics??? I would love to see what is possiable from someone else's prospective. So please if you have any ideas, suggestions, input, sample source code you could whip up then feel free to post any replies. Thanks, Peace and keep reaching for the stars!
Over and out!

Hey there ScottyB!

The bitmaps are great! Unfortunately I work more in 3D but there are plenty of people out there who'll point you in the right direction as far as 2D is concerned!!

I suggest you download the free version of DBP and start playing around. Everyone here will be glad to help you develop your skills as well as team up on projects such as this.

Good luck!

I'll look at the sprites tomorow as I'm on my iPod atm then I'll see what I can whip up

Heres a starting sample without physics.
Physics could be done with regular dark basic commands or from someones plugin commands.
Also I would think a basic track would be needed to plan out the physics for it.

Hopefully it helps.

Attached zip file.

Updated it a little and took away the 4 frames from each car.
As far as editing the bitmaps,I would not because they are yours.
I really don't do sprites after doing a few in a paint progam awhile back lol.But putting them in rows across all on the same bmp I think would be better and not as much image loading.Your sprites are cool btw.Had fun playing with your cars .
I have my eye on ProMotion for future sprites I might try to make.

I'm working on comeing up with the track(s) now. Might take awhile. Also to get the bitmaps looking there best they need to be editted a bit with your favorite paint program. I just highlight the fade colors that go to pink and cut them which makes them all black giveing us deep black bevel on the car at that point I'm satisfied with the bitmaps and lastly transparentcy color rgb(255,0,255) then there good to go!

Does anyone know of ways to plot out our paths for the tracks? They must be data we can read so we can make things ai-cars move around.

I'm trying to comeup with some but I would also like to see what other kinds people could make.

Thanks,
Peace
and
out!

right now I'm trying to see what we can do about the tracks!
Any suggestions/ideas?

I was playing around with a small image of a track as a sprite.
But not sure how anyone else would go about it, maybe scrolling images or 2d tilesets.

Heres a little different code and what Im trying to do here is get and reset the offset of the track sprite to where the main car is located and rotate around the offset.I havent really messed with it to much as I am working on something I like to call Dark Wars for now thats using DBP,DarkNet,BlueGui,assorted,DarkMatter models and probably more.
Renamed the bitmaps for easier loading.
