But what good is your WPM if your accuracy is 2%...

Here's a test we can all try:

http://www.learn2type.com/TypingTest

My Results:

Your speed was 64 WPM with 4 mistakes

Your typing speed is above average

A few years ago I was around 100 with no mistakes, 120 on good days. Then I dislocated my shoulder, elbow. broke my arm in 4 places. Now im lucky to hit 50.

I first assistant was a steady 120, she was amazing. I could talk normally and she could type it. My last assistant couldnt hit 12 words per minute, but had a great body. So it worked out in the end LOL.

I did notice that the passage I was forced to type contained many capital letters and long words that you won't often come across. So basically you'd type much quicker with more commonly used sentances and words.

i have to look at they keyboard to type, os i'm sure my score would be higher if i didn't have to keep looking up at they screen and losing my place. 49WPM with no mistakes. compared to everyone else, i suck for some reason everyone else says that coding helps them type faster and it seems you can all type near 100WPM.. i've been coding for more than 2 years now, and using the computer extensively for longer than that, and my typing still sucks i can't even look up

stop looking at me!

I find the keyboard has a lot to do with it also. Not sure what exactly, but I find I can't type as fast on some keyboards, probably because I'm used to this current one that I've been using for the past 6 years. Laptop keyboards are also harder to use, they're tiny and the keys just have to barely be touched to be registered.

Well I'm a bit better than I thought-- I just did it twice more, and both times got:

Your speed was 84 WPM with 4 mistakes

Well, it was 85 WPM the other time, but I figure 84 is fair.

Cool, I'm not as bad as I thought .

Your accuracy was impressive.
Your speed was 43 WPM

Hell, I've got a job as a technical consultant in a top software house, who cares if I'm not the fastest typer! I've been writing software for 13 (eek!) years now, and I still only use 2 fingers.

I can type from memory at about 65wpm, not hugely fast but I never learned to touch type. When coding though, I tend not to type that fast, I prefer to move code around rather that retype too much, make it easier for me to keep track somehow.

When I'm coding or writing I type for accuracy (around 30 wpm, rarely make any mistakes), when I'm chatting on IRC or instant messangers, I type for speed... can't afford to have spelling errors in your code

~60WPM and no mistakes, tried 4 times... the 60WPM is about the average of those tests. No mistakes in anyone of them. Oh and I bet I could type faster if I was typing in my native language.
