Hello,
I am new to FPSC, actually just recently made my purchase and waiting to receive the product. I have no programming background and very moderate design knowledge, photoshop, gimp, and learning blender.
How ever I am very familiar with wordpress, joomla, some html/css, and online marketing. I would be happy to help any one interested in getting a site up and running in exchange for in depth help with FPSC.

While I am waiting I am using the free version and searching for tutorials to get familiar with the program.

I was courious about, how I would go about creating product keys for a game once it is created?
Would I need a seperate exe compiler of some sort? As, I said.. I have no programming back ground.

Thank you in advanced to anyone that can help me out here.

FPSC only creates the game. there is no protection for it or the assets used in it. If you want to protect your game you'll need to use a different program like phoenix (?) or vishu (?) not 100% on how thats spelled.

As for serials you may want to look into installer creation software that has this feature.

Thanks for your response.
I have done a search for both pheonix and vishu, came up with nothing searching for vishu. As for pheonix, I have found utilities for backups and backup recovery from what I understand.

I would figure something like this would be a little easier to find, anyone else have suggestions or experience with this?

I'm nearly certain Phoenix went defunct, haven't seen anything about it, there are no downloads to the program anymore, no site, and I haven't talked to Dave in about a year.

As for Vishnu, no idea. Haven't ever even used the program.

I recommend using InstallShield or some sort of install creator that supports keys. I know InstallShield offers key usage and whatnot, and can even generate lists for you. I have it, and I'm nearly certain it does (no, I didn't pirate it, I work as an IT at a school, so I get hands on access to any software I need).

Temporarly away from the Phoenix Sentry.

There are similar products out there that do the same or close to as InstallShield. I doubt many of the developers here can afford an application such as InstallShield. Even our company passed that one up because of the costs.

There are a few applications out there that you can take your built game and have it compiled into a single-file install exe and apply a reg key to unpack, etc. One off the top of my head, which we use very often is Inno Setup (INNO's Website. Just do a search for either "installation builder" or "setup installer software" to get you started. You will have to check each to see what features are offered for your needs.

Vishnu is an application that packs and encrypts your game assets. So instead of your game files being visible in a folder, it is compiled into an encrypted single file that the EXE uses when you run the game. I just wanted to make sure you understood what the difference was between Vishnu's functions and installer functions.

That should help to get you going.

Thanks again, BlackFox. Bookmarked, Inno Setup.

Just to make sure I understand.. I would use a program like Vishnu to encrypt the game files before creating the installer? Is this correct?
