Is there a way to make a light source in DB brighter? I've made a light in my scene but I want it to be really harsh.

Does anyone know if there's a way to do that?

Thanks in advance!

The only thing I'm aware of is to increase the range and set the colour to rgb(255,255,255). If you are trying to increase the contrast you could try increasing shadow strength (if you are using them) and set ambient light to zero. Also hide light zero.

Hopefully that helps (sorry but I'm rushing to write this!) maybe someone else can add some code if this doesn't make sense?

Thanks for the reply. I've actually done all that, but I still need it harsher. For now I've got it working with a rough hack of placing multiple lights in the same spot, but it'd be nicer to do it with just one light.

how big is your scene that you are shining the light on? maybe a spot light? might just need a shader if you are looking for a more high dynamic range type lighting..

If at first you dont succeed, call it version 1.0.

Maybe a bloom shader would do the job. Evolved has a great one available here:

We can get our object brighter with a shader, and perhaps with comands set light mapping on or set blend mapping on.

As Homey the Clown asked...if we make our objects extremely small, and we put a light close to it, it will be brighter than if we make a big level and we fit eight lights

cheers.

I'm using this method at the moment in "The Waystation" where I am using texture blending mode 4 to 6 to increase the contrast (in that order) on a pre-lightmapped scene. The difference is quite noticeable.

Hmmm... All good ideas... I'll have a play around. Maybe to get the "harsh light" situation I can use a combination of smaller objects with the bloom shader. Thanks guys!

I've found SET POINT LIGHT to help sometimes if you set it to the light's position .

...or a dodgy slow one by Motley Crue (something similar to "Home sweet home") LOL

...sorry for the off topic discussion but that's priceless!

back to the topic: @CumQuaT, you should try to use a shader like 'bloom shader' because it makes the objects look brighter
try also a technique called 'HDR'( it is a shader) because it works like bloom shader...
