Ok, i don't wanna use BSP's. I also don't have the money to buy CShop right at this moment. Can anybody suggest a good alternative to these. I have Maya 5, Max 5, an Lightwave 7(I think its 7, i never use the kak). But using Max/Maya seems a little over the top for simple level design. Any suggestions!!?

you can make level uesing the MAKE OBJECT COMMANDS in DB but this is very hard work and do not leven the code open to add new levels.

i think you can make levels in Max you just have to get then to .X file format

you could make your own editor that would allow you to position cubes and then texture them, thats not so hard, what kind of level? matrices are very easy to use

Well therein lies the problem. The levels are more areas. Both internal and external. I can export from Max in .X using panda. I was just hoping there was a simpler alternative.

What you might want to do is work with creating .X objects. The reason being is that if you can wait for the next patch it will bring Octree support.

What this means is that you can take and load in your .x model and then add it to the octree(called Nodetree in DBPro), this will add in things like portals so can make high polygon worlds that are insanely large. You can do this without any conversion at all.

Here is a link to show you how Octrees work...
http://www.flipcode.com/tutorials/tut_octrees.shtml

Now on top of using octree's there is an advanced portal system as well, they are optimizing the code and getting any last minute bug out right now.

This also includes full on collision for DBPro's Nodetree's and you can add pixel shaders and such in as well as lightmaps with shadows.

How do Octree's work? If you could summarise this it would be a great help, i could use Dark Basic INformation for my advanced higher computing project. -DivW
