DarkBASIC Professional Discussion / Guitar fretboard trainer... can it be done??

Hi

is it possible to program a guitar fretboard trainer, so the compyter tells you witch note you play on the guitar?? i got a Toneport ux1 soundcard, for connecting the guitar to the computer...

i just dont have any ide how i get darkbasic to communicate with the guitar.

any sugestions, so i maybe can get an ide of how to create it.

I would suggest you will need a dedicated library that deals with pitch detection. So your app records the note being played through the sound card input, then passes it to the plugin that can return the pitch of the note being played. No idea of any such plugin available that can do it though.

Google `pitch detection algorithm` for some ideas, looks like libraries exist to deal with pitch detection, but you would have to interface them with dbpro.

Pitch detection doesn't really work well with guitars because of the chords which mess it all up

Shame

Although I thought you could get processors for guitars that let you convert it into midi information? Woulden't that have to detect chords etc? or am I thinking of something else?
