I Really need help with this, i cant do it, i have tried looking in the manual and game's already made but...
If you have created a game that has:
You control a character like ROOM DEMO
You have attacks for character
your character has energy
Has enemy in it
Enemy has energy

Then please could you tell me, because i really need an example code showing this, I do understand most things that i want but i just cannot figure out the enemy and character attacks, like how to make 1 energy go down, i really need help.

Please respond if you have any answers
Thanks

I'm still learning codes, starting my first game, but i worry forgetting the codes i now know.

No offence, but I think you need to start smaller, especially if you're struggling with reducing energy. Build up piece by piece, until you can put it all together.

Make your energy variable global, that will simplify things for you. Keep track of the energy in a variable, and update the on-screen display using this value accordingly.

Andrew, a word of advice, don't say "can someone give me the demo and the codes" say "...code". If you say "codes" people here may begin to treat you like the "Da Codez" guy, trust me you don't want that. You will always hear vet programmers refer to "the code" not "codes". Codes implies n00b want's predetermined plugin codes to make a game, as opposed to "writing code"

Based on your posts that I have read over the last couple weeks it seems to me you are starting off with too lofty of a goal. Start small and easy - learn how to program before you learn how to game program. I don't mean that in a bad way what I mean is game programming is not easy, I am a pro VB programmer but I couldn't just jump in and make the next Halflife - understand? I am sitting here piddling around with slot machines and space invaders, to learn the language (which dbp help makes difficult but anyway...) way before I attempt anything that is FPS or RPG based. What I am saying is learn and understand programming in general first - you'll be better off in the end.

i wont ramble .. ill just answer the question.
for your infomation.. to make the enemy's health go down use this lil code.

health#=health#-1

to increase

health#=health#+1

that will increase/decrease the value of health by 1 everytime that command is called. ... command?! snippet... well... wateva

I wont say anything else cus saying anything else requires thinking. And im not in the mood for thinking right now. *brain falls out* .. hey come back!

no you don't only, unless you want to increase/decrease by small amounts, such as 0.4.

You do actually, to tell DBP that the variable is a "real" or floating point" number, ie. one with decimal places in.

There's no need to disappear!

Start small, and ask questions when you are truly stuck, and the help files have become a blur.

Nobody minds you asking specific questions, just don't ask "Can someone make my game for me", and do not use the word "codes"!

yes, that is all I was saying. I don't want you to leave - now I feel bad. I want to help anyone who is willing to learn. Right now that means moreso with programming in general as opposed to dbp specifics as I am still learning dbp (slowly as time allows) but I can school anyone on good programming practices that are generally accepted.

Good Luck
