I dont mind purchasing STYX but want to make sure it's going to work.

Anyone try it? Is it fairly simple to impliement?

I cannot get anti-aliasing to work with my project using the set filtering param in "set display mode" in dbpro -

set display mode 1024,768,32,1,4,0

You can see the jagged lines

(yes I have a good video card with anti-aliasing capability)

perhaps STYX works better? (or actually does anti-aliasing)

Thanks

DBPro's antialiasing does work, you must be just not using it correctly.

- Try other values for the antialiasing parameter
- Make sure there are no other commands which will reset the device after you enable antialiasing

Not sure how I am doing it wrong (i have been playing around and trying to get the ani-alias feature to work off and on for 7 months since I first started the project)

I have tried 1,2,3,4 in the filtering param - but it's still the same - when I look at other games (similar to mine using 3d character overlaid on top of 2d graphic) - it looks seemless and perfect and cannot see any jagged lines on the character.

What other commands could be reseting the device?

Thanks
Bill

Did you tryied your game on other machines compiled with options for antialiases? You can do it and test it on other pc`s so you can be sure it`s not hardware issue. It can be directx issue or drivers...

Where there is a will, there is a way.

Hello,

Are you using sprites in your game?

There's a bug regarding AA stops working when using sprites.

I posted a workaroung here: http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=154486&b=15&msg=1969490#m1969490

Hope this helps.

Best regards

Generally, if you are able to grab screen images, as you may have done for the shots above, then this should indicate that anti-aliasing is NOT on. When I have tried to grab an image from an anti-aliased screen in DPPro I get an error accusing me of trying to read an illegal surface or something similar.

Surely grabbing the screen image just gets the colour of each pixel regardless of whether they've been antialiased or not.

The sprite issue is fixed in the latest beta.

@billy777,
Please post your SET DISPLAY MODE command here, and also state what version of DBPro you are using, and whether you are using sprites.

Thanks everyone for posting!

I have version 1.074

I guess I should try the new beta, huh?

I am not using sprites - I am using...

1. PASTE IMAGE for background
2. Then I place the 3d object (character man)
3. Then I place a textured plane (with DISABLE OBJECT ZDEPTH so it snaps perfectly to screen) for forefround

could paste image disable the antialiasing?
also has the GETIMAGE bug been fixed if you have antialiasing enabled - because I do notice that I cannot USE the "get image" command if i set filtering to anything above 0 - and I need to grab screenshots for save game slots.

Thanks
