Hi Guys,

I was just wondering how much difference there is between FPSC X9 and FPSC X10 (you probably guessed that from the title). For instance, does X10 have ragdoll physics? If so, does X9 support them also? Also, does X9 support effects such as bloom and refraction (rippled glass, for example)?

Thanks,
Clonkex

x10 has ragdoll by default, the next release of x9 will as well.
If you have x9 and dont feel like waiting for the next release to have ragdolls then start by reading here.

X10 features:
-Ragdoll
-Bloom
-Enhanced AI
-Direct X10 Shaders
-Water
-Window Refraction
-A lot of helpful users

X9 features
-Almost all of the same as the X10 features
-A number of users who like to rip the crap out of X10 because they can't afford a new system IMO
-External mods

I think the best is X9, but I've been so tied to X10 that I despise FPSC X9 now, and everywhere I go, there is at least one person harshly criticising X10, even though they blatantly haven't tried it. If you want good graphics, go X10. If you want compatibility with older systems, go X9. I'd go for X10 though since Mystic Mod is really pushing FPSC to the limits .

Please guys, no more "X9 over X10 over X9 has a bunch of whiners with bad systems X10 has haughty users etc etc" discussions. I feel like banging my head into a wall.

Basically:

X10 comes with shaders and such that make a better looking game. It can only use the shaders that come with it. It has several features like Dark AI and Bloom that X9 does not currently have.

X9 has mods and more support, works on more computers, and the migration will make it better then X10 in many ways. I believe this because Lee said it himself in an email:

Quote: "...and the current X9 V117 internal version is already superior to X10 in a number of ways including realistic talking characters, better DarkAI scripting, backwards compatible with PS 2.0 (for low-spec PC compatibility) and a gamut of new features from various enthusiast mods."

Also, all current X10 users are getting a free copy of X9.

You are HAVING A LAUGH?!?! Seems I wasted £20 odd on something we'll get for free...

Unless you have the ability to re-vamp shaders to a Pixel Shader 4 quality .

I wasn't intending to create another discussion if one did arise, I'd not bother to intervene IMO. Sorry "/.

Hi Clonkex

Basically everything X10 has is being migrated over to X9.

X9 has a bunch of stuff which X10 won't have and most of the migrated X10 features are going to be improved upon in X9.

TGC have given X10 users the ability to download the X9 engine for free as the majority of future updates will be targeting X9.

I'm looking at this purely from a factual perspective rather than taking sides as I own both X9 and X10. In my opinion X9 is the more versatile engine and has the most growth in terms of support and community.

I would only recommend X10 to people that want better looking games without wishing to get under the hood and customise those effects.

Actually, no. I think the shaders have to be written a special way, which means none of Bond's shaders.

Oh right :L. I always thought PS4 shaders would work out of the box with a little tweaks for FPSC X10...

I don't think I mentioned on there too that there is more gradual support for X10 since the source code has been released, and a mod is already out for it: Mystic Mod .

Thanks guys. So, basically, I have to wait until the next release of X9 for ragdolls, etc.

Clonkex

P.S. I only have Win XP so I can't use X10.
P.P.S. I use XP for better compatibility with older games.
