What type of node tree is this (pic below) so I can google it and code it the correct way. Without the correct name, you might as well give up searching for it since it could be anything. An example:

Any ideas?

Edit, I'm upgrading my particle system to an event and/or script based particle system (Modelled after 3ds Max's plugin Particle Flow) combined with an entire FX system to do some mad stuff, one being using a particle system to emit or alter an entire world or pieces of it.

I'm no expert, but it is a form of a flow chart. It has some common characteristics of a flow chart: function( the big named box ), inputs (empty circle), outputs( small light box), flow path ( blue line with direction arrow ), decision box ( yellow diamond ), etc...

I would simply look up "flow chart" mabie with additional words like "design", "program".

some examples:

edit: arg, link to long for a clean link

Interesting stuff.

Maybe you can check my plugin NodeScript. It's not exactly the same thing, but I think it's quite close to what you're looking for.

Cheers Todd, very useful stuff. Maybe not for this but it would be very useful for something else I'm doing so thank you.

Math89, wow, very nice, I'll have a play with this. Though I probably won't use it for this cause it I need to be able to select each element and alter there properties. Plus drag and drop elements across nodes. But thanks anyway

So back on topic. Anyone know the name for the type of node tree in the picture at the top of the thread?

So if I wanted to code this, what is the correct procedure for going through the nodes?

Well, I don't really know how to read the graph you posted, so I can't really help at the moment. Anyway, I advise you not to use DBPro for that, because keeping the code generic will be impossible (like having a node representing a force and another one being a shape).
