Just a minor comment, the barrel of the Standard Pistol looks a bit tall. Maybe its just me but I think it should be less tall vertically.

I think its meant to look that way to give it a cartoony feel, i dont know....

BTW, that pistol flare effect looks really good, is it done with a flat textured plane?

thanks for the comments makes me more inspired to do work.
the pistol is ment to look that way, to suit the comical aura of the alien model,
muzzel flash is my secret but it is essentially particles,
game play is hella addictive, these are only progress pics not the actual game, i dont want to giv away all my ideas
