I don't believe you can distribute the compiler with games to compile exe'son the fly. I believe it's against the EULA.

You should really look into scripting with LUA or something else.

You could write a runner that the game data get attached to. This is how FPSC, DBC, and Game Maker work.

If you get mad and want to type something nasty about another person do this-Type what you want to say in the box then press ctrl-a and hit delete then type what you should say.

He means making a pre compiled game that can read the settings and other media files from an external file. ex:

-game.exe
-media.dat

the media can be a file that you save anything in it. including a list of media file names,variables, and the media itself. (read the File Command help section)

then make an editor to modify the "media.dat". And instead of "compiling" you can just make DBP create a folder and copy the precompiled "game.exe" and the new "media.exe"

Read the title and the post...
Quote: "What commandline code can I use to use the compiler"

and
Quote: "so my program can compile dbpro data for creating custom rpg exes"

That clearly says he want to recompile exe's on the fly! In order to compile to an exe, you need a compiler. Without further information, my original answer was correct.

If he wants to read external data then you can use a scripting approach like I already said, or if it's data only, then a datafile.

The impression I got from what he said was that he wanted to create a program to create rpgs and distribute the said rpgs as exes. I just thought maybe he worded it wrong or something...

@Mugen
Sadly you'll probably always have at least two files. The runner and the data file. I'm unsure how Game Maker attaches its data file to its runner.

If you get mad and want to type something nasty about another person do this-Type what you want to say in the box then press ctrl-a and hit delete then type what you should say.
