I am having no problem with this command opening a save dialog box. If the user clicks the close button or selects exit from the menu, the editor (I am designing) checks to see if work has been changed or if it is a new project - if it is, a message comes up before exiting and asks the user if he/she would like to save their work. What I need to do is return a value (not the path and filename) to see whether or not the user clicked save or cancel - since I cannot call a value, if I click cancel - the editor closes, when it should stay open unless the user clicks exit from the menu or the close button again... any ideas how this can be done?

If the user clicks cancel on the save dialog then a blank string is returned, so you can check that condition. Is that what you mean?
