I've come across a problem which I don't recall being such an issue in the past and would like to know if anyone else is suffering.

I recently build a test level around 20x26 with around 40 character to the level and maybe 30 dynamic entities. Without a light map the test level ran at a steady 32-38fps but with a 22 light light map set at quality 35 dropped the frame rate to 1-7fps. The maximum number of polygons displayed on screen was 38000 and generally around the 18000 mark.

Is this a major problem for anyone else. My PC is pretty old now, 2800+ single core, Nivida 6600 graphics card with 1mb of ram, but this seems to be a recent problem as I was happily building larger and more complex levels in the past.

Of course the fps drops to 1 if you have 1mb RAM
Jokes aside,if you use dynamic lights it will lag much more than with static ones. It also lags because the characters must keep regenerating shadowmaps when they walk from shadows to light.

yeah, try making them non-walking characters if you have FORTY of them.

40 is a bit much for FPSC games.

Hi,

Yes, this is a recent issue, possibly since V116 upgrade, but I spent a little time away from FPSC so can't say for sure. I suppose I could down grade to check it out.

These are spawned, so not more that 3-4 are active at once.

I agree that the specs are low now, but I'm sure I used to get a better performance from FPSC than this. I've got to be honest and say I can't afford to upgrade at the moment although it is neccasary. That said, my machine specs still more that cover the recommended.
