I'm just getting started and I'm not sure where to begin. At first, I thought DBPro was the way to go, but then I looked at FPSC and thought that might be the way to go. But FPSC looks more like your standard "doom" like creator (not that there is anything wrong with that). However, I was looking for something that will allow me to create my own 3d worlds that I might not necessarily run around and shoot people. Is DBPro the better choice? What is the best way to start creating maps and objects to place in the 3d worlds?

DBP is a compiler. It converts source code to an executable that you can run. FPSC is a FPS creation program that uses DBP code as a base.
So basically, DBP can do a lot more than FPSC. If you just want to run around on a terrain, then DBP is definitely a good choice, but you should be prepared to put some time in it.

I would suggest searching the Newcomer's Corner for any tutorials you might find. Especially the ones TDK wrote (the tutorials are written for people that never have coded before).

Cheers!

I've been programming for over 20 years. I looked at some beginners guides and took me about 1/2 to read through it. But it definitly sounds like I need to stick with DBP.
