I was just thinking, we havent had exactly many big games becuase a lot of them are in development. Well the magic land is the first big game in DBPro I think, unless I missed something. I think the other big games in production are the game that nANo is doing, and Eternal Destiny. Unfortunatly, these games might be in development because of either lack of people, or lack of people going to the team request forums. I am doing music and sounds for nANo which will help them, but they still need programmers. I am also working on Eternal Destiny doing the music, but ED has ground to a halt because of a lack of texture artists. If you wanna help with one of these games then go to the team request forums and have a look around. It seems that these games are gonna be pretty big.

Not to hoot my horn, but I'm a good way to finishing the algoritms for my work in progress ( of course the 3d content remains ), but without blushing I think I can say it's pretty good, both conceptually and it's within grasp. )

Read all about it on the codebase, if you're interested.

nANO won't get very far in my opinion, I've seen it before. I 'm surprised that the ED project is still running, shows us why RPGamer is a mod. Now that I mentioned it, I better get to work on that texture.

I have some productions going. I won't declare them big, until I actually get them far enough to show screenshots.

(It's tough juggling school, family/friends, alien compo, other projects together.)

Here's a quick product line-up

----------------------------------------------------------------
Matrix Editor:
Overview: That's right, the same one I showed pics of 2 months ago, and said to have an alpha in August.
Percent Complete- 25%
Estimated Release- January(This time I'm giving myself time.)

Particle Generator:
Overview: Builds particles from fireballs to waterfalls, and even just simple rain effects.
Percent Complete- 10% (Still toying around with it)
Estimated Release- January(Ideally, I'd like to build it inside of my Matrix Editor.)

DDA:
Overview: This is my alien compo entry. It's a mix of genres.
Percent Complete- 15%
Estimated Release- December 20th.

???:
Overview: My Personal project
Percent Complete- On hold.(Still practicing modeling, and waiting to finish matrix editor/particle generator.)
Estimated Release- Q2004
-------------------------------------------------
Here's what I think about ED, and Nano.

Eternal Destiny will be finished. Without a big team, it will never be a big game. Right now things are starting too look up(from what I've seen), because they're at least attempting to build on it, and they know they need to expand.

Nano, looks a bit optimistic. 15k polygon model, that could be done in about 2k. Ouch! I won't even ask what the robot is. The 15k model will probebly good for cinematics, but it lacks in detail and has some general faults.(Go to 3D section if you wanna critique them) I think for that reason people are generally shying away from that project. They see it as very optimistic, and already are making acusations. Overall, it looks like a project that will be running for a long, long time, and become playable.(That means, I don't think it will be finished. *Prove me wrong NANO team, please, use this as some inspiration.)
------------------------------------
Biggest current DB game is probebly Star Wraith, no doubt really. It's gotten maximum coverage around the UK.(Not sure about other countries, maybe U.S.A)

Truth be known, there's actually been a lot of commercial releases of db games. More than a handful(maybe 2 handfuls ). Most people just don't announce there games on the forum, or they did so long ago and it's become forgotten knowledge.
-------------------------------------
Well, you've got my product lineup, and some general opionions.
(Sorry for mega long post)

I'm modeling the robots!!! Dont worry, I'm getting better at modeling (as you all know) and I'll make sure I make them good mech models withing a reasonable poly count.

Good to hear that they'll be reasonable. I'm mainly just talking about the one that was displayed in the 3D showcase.(I'm assuming you didn't do that one.)

Don't get my wrong, the models are good, I just don't think they're a good standard for game development.

Ok... Now 'bout nANo:

If the game will be finished it will only run at the faster machines... That's the idea... It works fine on my computer and my Anvi's too. I think the recommendations will be something like: +1000 mhz, 256 ram, 3d accelerated videocard with 64 mb of memory (direct x 9 capable)...

I'm not sure yet, but I think we'll get playable test demo out in two weeks or less, so everyone can test will it run on their computers.

1568 polygons to be exact. The textures play the major role in that model.
I'm only going to spend many polys for the one and only main character because it's 3rd person so you will see Nadia all the time and I don't want any blocky parts on her. Now we have smooth landscape in the game and about 30% of the effects and fps is around 150-160 so if I'm using only one high poly model it's no stress at all.
Maybe if I cut Nadia's polys to 6k the fps would rise like 7 fps more which is not really worth it.
One thing is for certain that I will cut the poly amounts when we move towards finished product.

It'll be interested to see how your project turns out. I'd really like to see an awesome game from DBP.

Best of luck.
