A while ago Gorlocks Suggestions had requested a tutorial on how to create a grungy metal texture in GIMP. I finally got some time to do it, so with a big apology to Gorlocks Suggestions for the delay, ill post it here for the community to use...

I hope somone has a use for it... C&C is welcome.

1)Create a new image- 500x500

2)Filters>Render>Clouds>Solid Noise
5.0 for both X and Y
Check Turbulent

3)Fliter>Blur>Pixelize
Choose 10 by 10

4)Filter>Blur>Motion Blur
Choose Zoom and 50 for Parameters

5)Filters->Disorts->Emboss. Values shown below-


6)Filters->Edge-Dectect->Edge. Algorithm=Prewitt, Amount=9, Wrap

7)Fliter>Blur>Motion Blur. Values shown below-


8)Layer>Duplicate Layer

9)Layer>Transform>Flip Horizontally

10)Layer>Transform>Flip Vertically

11)Set the New Layer's Opacity to 50%

12)Image>Flatten Image

13)Colors->Colorize. Use the settings below or change it to your liking-


14)Here is my result-
