Welcome,

Sorry if this doesn't belong here, but It's my first post.

Below you will find an exchange with customer service regarding free plant life modules. I think it is self explanatory. I have not changed any of my messages nor TGC replies.

Enquiry Date: 22nd June 2010 10:11:01 am

Your Enquiry: On the web page for Plant Life, it says the the extra modules for it are now included with Plant Life. I went to my product page to download but plant life isn't there. It is part of Dark Game Studio (I bought 2 copies). How do I download the modules?

Thx,
Jeff

Plant life arrives on the DVD. The modules are included on disc.

Enquiry Date: 23rd June 2010 0:09:17 am

Your Enquiry: Nope. In the Plant Life Folder on the disk there are no modules only the Plant Life setup file. I checked out the rest of the disk and no modules. Please, tell me the exact location on the disk.

Thx Jeff

If you can see heather, and a long list of additional plant options at the top of your screen then your product has been activated to access all the additional moduels.

Enquiry Date: 24th June 2010 9:46:18 am

Your Enquiry: On start up it says
Addition Modules
Clover Module Not Installed
Sunflower Module Not Installed
Sago Palm Module Not Installed
Mexican Heather Not Installed

I can't acxcess these modules from the Modules Item in the Menu Bar.

I'm afraid I don't see a copy of Plantlife or Treemagik on your order but I do see DarkGAME Studio, unless you ordered under another e-mail account, name or address. If this is the case the DarkGAME Studio version doesn't come with the additional bonus packs. Just a standard version of Treemagik and plantlife. I apologise for the confusion.

Enquiry Date: 28th June 2010 10:28:19 am

Your Enquiry: So, the only way I can get the additional modules is to pay $20 for Plant Life when the modules were only $10! This is after I bought 2 copies of Dark Game studio which includes plant life! You have got to be smarter than this! You are about to lose a customer. I suggest you rethink your busines practices. Look at my order page and se how much I have spent on Game Creator products. I also suggest that you read how this all started and your responses.

I'm just customer services, and you did get fantastic value for money. All software is 100% working, and fully featured in it's usual form. I'm sorry but just because we run a special offer for one product doesn't mean we run them for all products.

So this started out as you already have the modules and ended with you don't deserve the modules.

By the way, If customer service can't help a customer, why call it customer services?

Don't think you're so special by being one of the hundreds of people who bought this and yell at the customer service guy about his employers' business practices. He's saying that the booster media pack only comes with the separate plant life and not the one included in Dark Game Studio. I do agree that it's kind of weird to not include the extra stuff in the Dark Game Studio one, but thats just what they are doing, TGC isn't cheating you out of anything. Besides, what do you want us to do about it, have a rally or something? Just use the plant life that game with Dark Game Studio. Hope this helps.

Actually I was going to give you a hard time here but I just looked at the Plant Life page and it says:
Quote: "Originally on sale for $20 we are now giving you the Booster Pack free of charge when you buy Plant Life"

...and the link to the Game Studio bonanza pack is at the bottom of the page. You did buy Plant Life as part of that pack!

Yes it's great value (I bought it) but if you don't get what it says you'll get you should be entitled to it anyway.

I suggest someone at TGC takes a proper look at this...

PS. My own experience with customer support has always been pretty good here from TGC

I was prepared to give him a hard time about it too, but you are right. Whether it's bundled or not, the product page itself says it comes with the extras, so the bundled one should too.

Especially with the Bonanza pack being listed right on that page.

I think he is correct.

But I can still give him a hard time. Boo hoo.

If you get this bent out of shape about missing a $20 value bonus pack of plant stuff in the software bundle you purchased (where you save $466.90 by not buying them individually) then perhaps you are not ready for the guaranteed frustrations of game programming?

Just saying...

@tiresius, let he who has never been annoyed at a customer services reprisentative cast the first stone...

I'm a fairly calm sort but I've had a few rants in my time and not always justified as this appears to be

OK, so looking at the Plant Life page, which clearly shows the bonus modules, and scrolling down to the Dark Game Studio offer at the bottom of the page.

http://www.thegamecreators.com/?m=view_product&id=2088

If you click the Plant Life Link in the bundle section it takes you back to the main plant life page (showing bonus modules). (see link above).

In this case TGC should have created another page without the modules should they not wished to include these.

A simple mistake, but it should be honoured and the link either changed or a note put on the page that the bonus modules are not included as part of Dark Game Studio.

However, think Im going to buy plant life

I thank all of you for your comments.

Was my first post a rant? Absolutly!

Do I want to start a campaign? No.

What I do want is to be treated, by TGC, the same if I buy a program stand alone or as part of a bundle. If I had bought Plant Life stand alone previously, would I have been able download the FREE modules?

One other thing I would like is to get one story, and not a different one each time I contact support. ie first I was told the Free modules were on the disk. Then, I was told that I only had gotten the standard version with Dark Game Studio (a week of emails later).

I do have to say that my respect for TGC has increased by the fact that you can rant in the forums and still get posted.
