when i go to compile i get the error

runtime error 1512- display is not supported by available hardware at line 0

i just got the program so i just got the direct x and the code is from one of the example prodjects that come with it

PLZ HELP

Can someone plz tell me what i need to do?

That error means that the Screen resolution set by the editor isn't supported by your hardware; either because it's set too high, or you need to update some drivers or maybe Direct X (You need to download and install the latest version of 9.0c, but you say u've already don this)

Try changing the resolution to 640 x 480, which is a fairly low and commonly supported resolution and go from there.

It is saying to you what the problem is !!....just delete line 0.

wait u mean my resolution as in my properties on the desktop?

[edit] and yes i just resently had to reinstall windows so some drivers arnt there...if that the pro lem maybe what driver is it that i need (if you happen to know)

I mean the resolution in the project settings in the DBPro Editor, not your windows desktop resolution.

And as for drivers, my guess would be the one for you graphics card

ok the resolution was already at that so thats not the problem

i dont think thatll work will it if the resolution is already at 640 480

Yes, the VGA Compatable driver is the problem.

Without knowing what graphics card you have, I can't really help much as to where to get the drivers, but Windows Update is a good place to try first

Well, look on the Box u'r PC came in? Check out the model number online; If your confident and sure what u'r doing (and you have a desktop not a laptop) then you could open up the case and have a look? if not, ask a PC savvy buddy to find out for you.

wow i be looking all over for the driver but dont know what one to get. theres a sticker on the botom of the laptop...will that help at all?

Try CPU-Z http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html
It should be able to tell you what you have.
Also Windows Update - Custom if on XP should have a driver for you mabey.
I think Vista and 7 just update.

Open run and type in "dxdiag" (without the quotes), go to the display tab and look for the chip type. Thats your graphics card.

What make of laptop is it? You can get the drivers from the manufacturers website.

And the issue is probably due to setting your screen color depth too high since your set to use 640x480. Try setting the resolution in the editor to 640x480x16, or change the set display mode to 640, 480, 16 and try that.
