I got a job at Knott's Berry Farm, a theme park here in Southern California and I'm a conductor on the train. And I have absolutely fallen in love with it. So I decided to build it in 3d. What's funny is I couldn't find hardly any reference for the 41 or any c19 locomotive for that matter. Luckily I have access to the real thing 5 days a week :p If any of you live in so cal (I do understand many of you are elsewhere like the u.k.) feel free to visit just look for me I'll let you ride free.
So basically I'm starting at the front and building detail one bit at a time backward.
Details for anyone who's interested, straight from the spiel I give while on the train.
...riding aboard vintage stock of the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad of Colorado. This train is well over 120 years old. It was built in 1881 and was used on the entire narrow gauge system in Colorado before being brought to Knott's Berry Farm in 1952. The engine pulling the train is one of two authentic steam locomotives, each weighing over 30 tons.
