So I installed my DBP CD-Rom onto my SUH-WEET new laptop, then proceeded with checking to make sure it would run.
Print "Hello World"
Wait key
Simple enough, it should run. Hit F5... wait, what? Can't create file? What are you talking about? See the pic for the error. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program again, but obviously since I'm posting here, it failed. Any solution for this besides going back to my sloooooow Windows XP?

On a semi-related note, is there any way to upgrade DarkBasic Pro to a newer version?

It looks like you are using windows7. I think you have to authorize it to run DBPro as an Admin, if memory serves me correctly.

EDIT: You didn't say which version you are currently using. v7.5 is the current stable version. Simply go to the home page for TGC and click on Dark Basic Professional. At the Product Menu tab, go down to Downloads - upgrades are there.

Thanks, I'll try that out now.
I'm not sure where to find the version I'm using. The disc is copyright 2002, if that tells you anything about how old it is.

Wow! You really need an upgrade!

If it is the standard IDE you are using, click HELP and ABOUT.. IT will give you 1.035 or something like that. The last two digits are your version.

I upgraded it (7.5). First off, THE UI IS FREAKING AWESOME. Seriously, huge improvement over the old DBP But it's asking for an activation key and it's showing ads... I mean, it's not a big deal, but I DID get the bought version...
But go with what works, I guess. I'll get the activation key and see if it runs.
