How do you read files in .x format? if i open any .x file it shows a bunch of random numbers and letters. What's wrong?

.x files aren't text files. They are models which are opened by modeling software like fragMOTION.

With your eyes! Sorry you kinda set yourself up for that one.

.X files can be opened with Notepad but it really depends on how the file was exported from the modelling program. If the file has been compressed it will basically be unreadable so you need to import and re export as text based.

Its better to use compressed files in the engine as they leave a more performance friendly footprint.

Lol, most people do that in the x10 forums when some one asks something like "Will my graphics card run it ?" and they have a card from 2002 or something.

there is a program that will open directx models straight away it called directx viewer I cannot find it anywhere by now because I cleaned up my hard drive and I forgot to back it up
