Hi, keeping this post as short as I can..

1)I Edit a model (lara croft test object from net, personal use only) in 3Ds max and apply the various texture maps to body parts via the material editor. I then export selected as .X file with settings as followsplease see attached PDF:max export settings).

2) I then import the .X model in to UU3D pro. unwrapping it etc, save my uv maps, import them into image editor, fill in my maps and export back to UU3dPro and attatch my editited maps.

3) Now Im stuck! I am trying to import the mesh (.x) in to fps creator by putting it (and Uv maps from uu3D) in the user folder in entity bank, but it does not show up when I open FPSC entity
browser! I have tried entity workshop but cant attach multiple Uv maps to the single model with its limited texturing options!

All I want is to be able to create a model in 3Ds max, import/export with UU3D pro, export my final output from UU3D pro directly in to FPSC!! Please help ? Thank you

Yeah, you already have a 3000.00 program that does that. Why spend another 50.00 or 60.00 on UU3D?

Entities have 4 files minimum.

x file - model
image file = texture
fpi file = model properties
bmp file = image icon for library

If you haven't made the fpi file for your model, look at some other fpi files and follow the template.

Brian.

@Nilloc: erm, what is/how do i make an FPI please ? Only had DB pro FPSC (etc) one week, I brought the Dark studio & FPSC bonanza bundles

@henry ham: cos max is a 30 day trial and runs out soon

I am currently learning Blender 2.5 Aplha (V-slowly!) but as I used max (at collage a few years back) I decided to use a demo version to `speed` things up. I was told that if I buy uu3d pro it would be easyier/more productive while I learn Blender properly!(uu3d pro cost me £50, and yes its legal) besides, I like all the plugins you get with it for import/export I have been considering getting max with my insurance payout from an accident I was in but not sure atm, loads of other debts to pay 1st

@xplosys: I am using the panda exporter for 3ds max, when I choose export selected it only saves a .X file in my export folder, none of the others you mention!

Thanks to you all for the replies

make sure you go to this tab in the exporter

after export you will need somthing like entity workshop to make the model fpsc ready

http://www.wehtam.co.uk/entityworkshop/

this will make the fpi file & bmp files for you & save it all into your entity bank

cheers henry

@henry ham: Hi, Many thanks, V-helpful of you

I had been using the texture settings (see attached image) I think its a max plugin version error! Anyways, while you was typing a reply to my post I found this half way down the page

http://files2.thegamecreators.com/fpscreator/fpsc_entity_maker.zip

I had tried Entity workshop but had problems getting textures to load in, think I could only select one image per mesh or something like that!

Maybe it due to the fact i am using EWS v.20, found here:
http://games.alyssar.nl/entityworkshop/

Between you & xplosys I think I have it sorted now but will find out in the morning as I really need sleep!

Anyways, you have all been a great help Thank you to you all

Will post back any success tomorrow (I hope)

Maybe because it's a way better mapper and also has massive import / export file type support ?? which Max really lacks badly no matter how much it costs.

I own Max and still prefer to map in fragmotion
