having not used dbpro since i got my new comp, i decided it was time to put a few of my ideas into practice. i made a giant cylinder, rotated it and made the mouse control the camera and my computer crashed. windows xp then prompted that it recovered from a serious error...

considering the high(ish) spec of my machine i was not amused. luckily i tried it before i got really far. maybe i should leave giant cylinders out of my idea.

uk.geocities.com/maniacimagine check it out. ill soon be formally opening it.

More likely to be a memory leak mate, giant cylinders should'nt cause too much trouble - I don't suggest using a DB cylinder anyway, make one yourself with as few polys as you can. I like cylinders for view culling, like if you want to extend the camera range for sniper scopes etc, it's a good idea to use cylinders, because boxes don't rotate well, and can really interfere with things on a disabled backdrop.

Perhaps when you rotated your giant cylinder, it bumped into the CPU and dislodged it

More likely your drivers or DirectX aren't up to snuff
