Im not using the newest version because its not complete(still in beta) and its missing a couple of tools. The UI Im not a fan of but it makes it look more professional and easier to use but atm Im using 2.49.

I fixed the poly overkill which decreased the poly count by 200. It now has 1623 polys.

To export from blender to direct x you need a plugin if you use version 2.49 and download the zip file version not the installer it comes with lots of plugins including the direct x exporter.

When you download the zip verion unzip it of course and use the blender.exe in that folder. Open your model then click
file>export>direct x. If you have skype I can help you.

Fa1len4ngel, whereas you have made a great start in modelling please hold off from publishing on a 3D stock site just now. What you are doing is great but you still have a lot to learn, do a few more models, in six months to a year with a little hard work and dedication you may have something worth buying and will be able to hold your head as high as anyone on such site. 3D stock sites are full of models like this, some even advertise themselves as being an artists first model , they clog the system up and are never bought. If you wish to sell or even give away a model on such a site consider what an experienced game maker or artist may think of them and the possible damage you could do to your reputation amd future sales.

I`m not trying to put you off I have been doing it myself for a number of years and sell VERY reguarly on such sites, Have a look at your favourite game or last game you played, if your model can sit well in that game then you are ready. With luck you will be selling models for $50+ instead of a few cents. It takes hours if not days to produce decent models properly so you may as well get paid properly.

I wish you luck and will offer any help that I can if asked, but just hold off for now. I dont mean to harsh or put you off but trust me in a year or two you will see why for yourself as you learn more.

When youre ready give me a shout and I`ll help in anyway I can and tell you the best places to sell and what you need to do to get you stuff seen by potential customers, believe me Turbosquid maybe the most well known but there are much much better sites out there that treat the artist as a partner not a source for their income.

Good luck, get a texture on that model

@Fa1len4ngel: Looking good! What is your technique for doing the wire renders? Also, Blender 2.5 may be in beta, but it's very complete. I've been using it for a long time since before it was in beta and I haven't missed a single feature from 2.49. I recommend making the switch.

@ploxiegens: You using 2.49? If you have any problems exporting to DirectX, you should check out my DirectX Exporter. People seem to have been pretty happy with it. And if you're using 2.5, my exporter now ships with the beta.

@Frap: I would be very interested in hearing what you have to say about such things like that if you wouldn't mind sharing with me. I've been modeling for a few years and I've got some things sitting around that I'd like to try on the market. I'd love to hear from you.

I just switched to 2.5 I had problems with my camera moving but i just had to change it in the user prefences.
Oh for the wireframe I set the mesh to white and add some emitting light. Then I copy the mesh (shift-d) and set that to wire and black and take off the emitter.

I see. I was just wondering because on some of your perspective wire renders, you're missing wires on the top and sides of the model. I recommend using Z Transparency along with Z Offset while using Ambient Occlusion and no lights. Here's a picture of the setup I like to use most often (I've highlighted the important settings):

These settings produce the image below:

I hope that helps.

Well Ive switched to blender 2.5 and I need some help. First of all I had a camera movement problem lick alt left click drag to rotate but I fixed those. Now I have a problem border selecting. If for example I have a cube and I go to front view and I border select all the vertices it should also select the ones in the back but it doesnt any help on how to change that.

Yeah, if you don't have a 3 button mouse, you need to select Emulate 3 Button Mouse from the user preferences, but it looks like you did that already. For the other problem, it's just a matter of turning off a feature that's off by default in 2.49. If you look at the header of the 3D View, there should be a little cube icon with highlighted vertices. Just toggle that off and you should be able select all vertices in the model. That option is useful for when you only want to see the front of the model, as it will hide any occluded geometry.

Hope that helps.

Thanks got it all working now.
Still one thing is missing, the bevel tool which I do use not a lot but it can be a problem. That and the ability to add a background image Im guessing Im going to have to do it the texture way.

Hmm, personally, I don't have much use for the bevel tool. In fact, I'm not sure I even used it once in 2.49. However, I can't seem to find it in 2.5, so maybe it hasn't been implemented yet.

As for background images, press N in the 3D view. Scroll down a bit and you should see this:
