I haven't played Beyond Life for ages, but I remember it was a great game. So I might have a go at it. But I don't remember the story at all well or how the last one ended. So if someone enlightened me I'll appreciate it. lol

But I'd love this to become a community project then just a one man project, one man projects are boring... All you do is wait for them to make progress but it would be more fun if everyone chipped in with something, be it concept art or a new model.

My hat's still in the ring, and Kravenwolf, since I'm sure you're much more able to model and texture than me, I would always allow your design decisions to overrule mine as you would be the one actually making the media. I would be arranging it in a fashion where it would flow well, and lead the player through the game in an exciting, and easy to follow way. What I saw of General Jackson's gun modeling and animating talent, I bet he could make a Tavor that would whip the first ones bum. something that Wehtam would truly be proud of.

If I'm picked, it would be an honor working with any of you, and If not than I'm sure that it's because the chosen candidate is more prepared for the task of design than am I.

Kravenwolf, it would be great if you and bugsy and I could work together.

I think we could if you would try.

Each night the Boogie man checks under his bed for Chuck Norris, but he wakes up several times throughout the night to make sure General Jackson isn't under it.

Wehtam, I only wanted to do a remake of the original with a few added things, not continue with an entire series.

That's also a great idea, Starmind. It looks great so far! I hope that Wehtam gives you the go ahead to carry on.

Tonight i'm going to type up a small document to pass to who I entrust with this. Once again, thank you everyone for your comments, I don't want to draw this thread out too long but I do want to make sure it "feels" right.

The idea of this document is to clearly outline my few story requirements, enabling the artist to have confidence when deviating from it and allowing them to create their own story without the need to feel they have to ask my permission. it will also contain a bit of the back story should they wish to include any items from the whole shabang, but it's not a requirement.

starmind I'll get back to you by email, I love the images by the way, terrific stuff!

Wehtam, I have received your email and have began production on the remake. I have just spent the last three hours playing, taking screenies and drawing out the level. I sent you a request though.

For those interested on the remake I will post a wip later when I have the textures and a level worth showing. I also want to wait to see who he picks for BL2.

Thanks for the chance at the remake.

I guess I can help with some scripting , too ..... I would really like to be a part of this , and also I love FPI language scripting and its the most thing I loved and cared of in FPSC .
BTW , I think what KravenWolf said about 2 designers is right , If thier Talent\Ideas\Vision for the game is different somehow ( Which is very possible ) The game might come in a bad look .
So , I vote for KravenWolf to do it .
Cheers

But ofcourse, nobody could make a beyond remake better than Wehtam_.

And everybody has its own side. Wolf or PwP or MGarand and many others are very good at scifi/grunge.

Anyway, i still believe it is silly to someone other then Whetam_ is going to make a remake. But o well i guess its all a good show.

Good luck to anyone.

If Bugsy and I are picked I'd love to work with PWP as well.

I agree with red eye. every gamemaker has his own style. and i cant see anyone has the same style as Wehtam.

But i must say, Starmind is the most qualified in my opinion.

1) he was the first who asked wehtam. ( and have enough experience and motivation to take this job seriously)

2) watching his screenshot. it has almost the same atmosphere BL have.

If i give my scifi game to another guy to make the sequel,
then i would choose someone that is more experienced in scifi then horror.

I suppose I should also announce that I've received an email from Wehtam a few days ago, and after a small discussion back and forth, have since started development on Beyond Life 2.

---

I realize that when a game franchise is handed over to a new team of developers, the series is no longer the same in some aspects. Having experienced it first hand with Silent Hill (5), SOCOM (Con), Resident Evil (4), and so on; I will do my best to stick with the characteristics that made BL what it is. Only the environments will change.

It can also be said that when these kind of transitions are made, there is always a fanbase unpleased with what the series has become, no matter what it has become. You simply cannot please everyone in circumstances such as these, and I accept that. Though, whatever expectations are or are not met in the sequel, I hope that BL2 becomes a welcome title in the series to the vast majority of BL fans.

A beyond life remake in Source or Unreal would be cool.

I'd love to see things from your point of view but I can't get my head that far up my bum.

In my opinion, dark and grungy doesn't define this series.
It should be a clean presentation. That's just how I see it.

And the way i see it, is that if he's been chosen he can do it the way HE wants, as the creator said, he want it to loosely follows the original Storyline

Great to hear that! I was hoping you would do it.

For those that are worried about me doing the remake, Please don't worry. I am only changing the characters, weapons and the graphics. Everything you remember from the original with be there, just updated to v1.17. All with bond1's shaders, talking characters, dark ai and all new explosions. I guarantee you will love the updated remade version.

Wait for the wip post coming in September..

A qoute from the gane:

So i thought seeing as my game is set in a science lab and my favourite FPSC game is beyond life i thought i would incorpaerate the two together somehow

Hi syko games,

I'm glad you enjoyed BL and I appreciate the fact that you're a fan of my work.
I have no control on whether you use a fictional theme of the same name in your game, however I would like to point at that my game is not affiliated with your game in any way.

Seeing as this topic has been raised in this particular thread I will say that it means a lot to me to entrust the BL theme with other artists, and I am confident in passing the baton to Kravenwolf and Starmind. Your post however has come across in a fashion that I have somehow given you explicit permission to also borrow from the BL theme, which I haven't.

As previously mentioned, I can't stop anyone from using themes which appear in the game, but if I had the choice I wouldn't approve it unless they asked in advance instead of assuming.

You couldn't have picked better forum members then these two to continue the saga. (I completly agree with your desicson)

I loved BL and was the main reason I bought FPSC, I hope that BL2 and remake will hit such a height of popularity as the first one.

Love the models starmind! Wehtam will your voice be in the BL2 and remake will it have new voices or the orignal ones?

Thank you! However those were what I started almost a year ago, now I have made some big changes and with the help of bond1's shaders, the look is amazing.

I have asked Wehtam to do some of the original voices for the remake and he said he would be glad to do them again.

But I must say the work I have been doing, you all are up for a suprise, including Wehtam.
