I don't see how you can talk about modeling guns without talking about guns - at least not real life guns. Weapon manufacturers are always making variants of their products. Weapons modelers will therefore do the same.
What does a model of a Thompson submachinegun look like? It depends on the game you need it for. If it's a World War II game, it'll be an M1 with the cocking handle on the side of the receiver, a horizontal foregrip and a 20 or 30 round box magazine (top photo). If it's for a gangster game, it'll probably be either an M1921 or M1928 with the cocking handle on top of the receiver, vertical foregrip and 50 round drum magazine (bottom photo, showing the M1928).
You need to know your subject, if you're going to make (or buy) accurate 3D models that are appropriate for a game.
Quote: "The M16A2 and M4 (Carbine) are both only 3-round burst....when used by the general infantryman/soldier. I'm unaware of a full-auto variant; unless made for other operations."
I was referring to older models; used in the 1980's - early 90's (probably manufactured way before then). Ones made before the advent of three round burst. If you’ve never seen or heard of a full auto version of the CAR15/M4, they’ve probably all been either modified or replaced since then. As I said, it's been a while.
Ten minutes to Wapner.
