Since fro some reason when i export 3DWS maps to .x or .dbo i never get a texture no matter what. Just lightmaps. But i noticed that when i viewed my map (a .x file) with my direct x model viewer that it had the texture! i have heard of this before but this is the first time ive seen it. When i load the model into Darkbasic Pro, i only get the model without the texture. How can i get this texture out, or load it in darkbasic?

(in the pic you cant see the grass texture because idk how the lighting\ shading worrks on this thing but the model IS NOT A SINGLE TEXTURE)

I have cartography shop,
when i loaded a level into DBP i noticed that it was pure black.
I took the lightmap texture out of the folder with the level i was loading. I don't know how to use the lightmap texture yet so for now
i just delete them.
it worked for me. I hope that helps...
you dont have a screenie of the problem in DBPro though so i don't know for sure what it is doing.

You might need to make sure the textures are in the correct relative path to the textures when you saved the model. So if you saved the model in "Models" and the textures were loaded from "Models\Textures" then wherever you save the model you'll have to make sure the textures are in a sub-folder called "Textures".

Hope that helps...

Just open the .x file (assuming it's in text format) in WordPad or NotePad, etc, and search for file names. I usually do this by searching for the double quote ". Then you'll know where the x file is finding the textures and you can copy them to a more helpful location as necessary.

If the x file is in binary format this might still work but you could convert it to text format by using the DX9 SDK utility meshconvert.exe.
