Does someone have an example of how to do ship physics?

Space or water?

Either way, I don't. I just though I would help you clarify the question a little bit.

Interesting.

There is a demo that comes with DarkPhysics involving Water and a bunch of Boxes being dropped into it. Maybe that will help.

why can't you use dark physics? its all software and uses the processor, not the graphics card as far as i'm aware.

was it opening an nvidia web page? As I mentioned in the dark physics help thread (which you may not of read) I managed to fix that but fully updating my graphics drivers along with windows.
if that doesn't work have a look here: http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=173434&b=30
(there isn't a definite solution yet, but one might appear on that thread)

So you don't want to use DP, doesn't matter.

Are you after 2D or 3D? Are you after something that looks like a ship floating in the water or does it need to react accurately?

If you want to simulate something, just think about what that thing does:

- In rough water a ship sways side to side and forwards and back depending on the waves.
- When turning the ship will tend to lean to the outside of the curve.
- A large ship will accelerate very slowly.

Now you just need to write code which will approximate these things.

You can't always depend on someone else giving you example code, especially for something as specific as this.

It is a rather big ask...

Part of the fun of programming for me is solving problems just like this, it should be the same for you (I hope). Unfortunately my brain comes up with about twenty ideas like this a week so I never have time to finish my own ideas let alone anyone elses.

I would suggest having a go then ask for help if you get stuck. You'll be more proud of the parts of your game you work out for yourself than the parts others write for you.

Diggsey's suggestion that you think about what makes a ship move the way it does is good advice

If you knew there was something in the codebase why did you start this thread?
