Not sure which section this should go in, probably scripting, but it can be moved to wherever.

Just wanted to ask if there was any way I could get an entity to drop a gib on death that can be used as a health pickup. I am making a zombie game where you are the zombie and I don't want to add gibs separately that heal around entities.

I know I can make a gib a healthpickup, but not sure how I would do that if it drops off an entity and to be honest I can't script.

Welcome to the forums .

Your idea can be scripted, but it would take ages to get it working. Best bet is to create a destroy script where the character dies but remains active. Then you can go up to it and feed from it. Using a gib won't exactly work as X10 currently doesn't work with moving entities to another which has been destroyed, so feeding form the corpse is your best approach. If you want, I can try to create a script for you, but it may take a while since I am working on a project right now .

Basically just make the "If Used" Line in the zombie options (right click the zombie in the editor) set to "gib (the name of the gib entity)." Then make the gib have "Spawn at Start: No" and "Use Key: Nameofyourzombie." And for the destroy script of the zombie add ",activateifused" to the last state.

But then the gib will appear where it is placed in the editor, so the enemy would move but the gib would still spawn in its terminal position lol.

Yeah, but there is currently no possible way to do the effect otherwise.

I'm not familiar with the FPI scripting in FPS Creator as I have never actually used it in depth, its something on my very long list of things to do. But can you not just make that entity change it's position to the X,Y,Z coordinates of the enemy character when it is is killed and then spawn it.

If this isn't possible it may be something to recommend to Budokaiman and he seems to be the FPS Creator X10 developer now that Lee isn't working on it, it really can't be that hard to add in some commands to move an entity using coordinates.

The funny thing is, I've already done that, in one of the current betas.

Unhelpful Titles

Please do not simply write "Noob Question", "I am a newb", "One Noobie Question", "A question", "Please help", "This isn't working" or anything similar as the title of your post. We have a search facility, and meaningless titles do not help others find answers to their questions. It will also help you to get quicker responses if people have an idea of your thread content.
