with every update this game looks better and better- I hope you get a chance to animate the models... because the game really deserves it!

i've found someone who'll animate the model for me, so that should be really cool

I think you should add SET AMBIENT LIGHT 100 at the beginning. Its looking a bit dark at the moment.

...and like that; he's gone...

NOOO!
Never ever do that.
that's one of the main reason's DB games look crappy. Use of ambient light. That gets rid of Any shadows and makes the game look very plain and dull. If you need light, then add some. Don't mess with ambient light. If you have to, then decrease it!

hi, thanks for the comments. it is supposed to be dark, as its on some distant planet floating around in space. i've yet to add some more of the lights about the place, and this adds to the lightness a little., and when the skybox is on, it will look better too.
genius: thanks
(host is working again (as you can see))

Looking wicked! Could definitely be a winner...

Have you got computer opponents in it yet?

Have you tried dotting static hardware lights at points along
the course, like where you've got the light rays, for example?

yes, i have got opponents in at the moment, which also are effected by turbos etc. only thing i have to do is add a bit more randomness to them, and then they should be pretty cool.
yeah, i might add db lights where the 'fake lights' are, but i haven't yet.
i'm currently working on the menu screens a lot too, which are coming along nicely now.

hi everyone
been a while since i last updated this post, but i've been working hard . in the last few days i've completed the menus, and also done a bit on the game - i'm now working on the HUD, which is about 1/2 way done, and then i'll be adding the different game modes. luckily i've found someone who's making some animations for the alien, and he's doing a great job. i'm planning on getting the game finished by christmas day, and then after that, the time can be spent fixing small things etc. i haven't done much in the way of new models, but i want to get the most important thing finished first. if i get the time, tommorow i'll post new screenshots of the menu, HUD and the aliens animations

Hi everybody
ok here are some of the latest screenshots. you might not notice many changes from the previous screenshots, but there have been lots the screenshots don't show many of them.
The newer starting grid - notice the skysphere i added too.

the options section in the menu (menu is navigated using the arrow keys and return):

The entrance to the tunnel (with animated flags ):

The latest screenshot(showing the completed HUD - notice also the aliens animation - leaning to the side becuase i was turning at that moment in time):

any feedback welcome

Menu looks amazing.

Can you please post a screenshot at ambient light 100, I bet it looks good. I think those are too dark.

Hmmm... Not as much difference as I would have thought. Still, I'd go with 100 so that people can darken it to thier taste, it's always better to start light and darken that to try and lighten something that is too dark. Only have it at 100 if you don't have any non-texture objects, it will make them look 2D

If you have time If I were you I'd add some strip lighting and fleurescent style strips to your scenery. The game looks good dark but if you've ever played anything like wipeout you'll know how much of a feel of speed brightly coloured strips make when your wizzing past.

Only an idea of course..

Ok so its not a mouse.
